Omaha[edit]

"Best known" for Westworld?[edit]

Zahn McClarnon appeared in the most recent (Sunday, June 10) episode of Westworld, as a major character in the episode. Since then, a spate of editors, largely IPs, have insisted on adding Westworld to his "best known for" roles. This is ludicrous. While Westworld is certainly popular on HBO (and the edit smacks of fancruft), there has been precious little media on the episode and very little time for McClarnon to be known for it at all, much less best known. Even the most cursory review of the media makes clear McClarnon is best known for two roles: his long-term recurring role as Matthias on Longmire, and his role as Hanzee Dent on Fargo, which was talk-up as a possible Emmy nominated performance. The Westworld appearance, while important within the show's universe, I gather, is hardly at the level of notoriety of the other two roles. This is simply recency and fancruft, nothing more. That's debatable. Westworld is a very high-profile series, and McClarnon's performance and character in "Kiksuya" received notable praise from critics, even the Rotten Tomatoes summary is basically all about his performance. Not to mention, he was credited as a part of the main cast on that episode, rather than as a guest like previous appearances. The series is fairly high profile at the moment, for a cable series. How that equates with McClarnon being "best known" for the role is anything but clear. He might, arguably, be currently known for the role among others, but best known? That takes time, talk, media and attention. Show me where those are. Googling "zahn mcclarnon westworld", I see flag-words such as "could make Emmy history" ... "tour-de-force performance" ... "most lauded episode yet". I would call that inclusion-worthy, and I don't watch the series. — Wylie pedia @ 08:32, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not questioning that the role merits inclusion, and some discussion in the article, particularly if he gets an Emmy nomination, but the same could be said for Hanzee Dent. My concern is whether a very recent role in a season that is still running is really a role for which he is best known. Dr. Margi's argument for his Fargo role being considered "best known" but not his Westworld one is that his role in Fargo led to "talk-up as a possible Emmy nominated performance". But as Wyliepedia stated, that's definitely the case for his Westworld performance as well. After a quick search here's a few examples I found: here, here and there. He's become a talked-about actor with the series, perhaps even more than for Fargo, so I would say it does qualify as "best known for". It's not like we're saying he turned into a megastar or anything, but objectively speaking it just seems to be the case. --Hyliad (d), 00:46, June 24, 2018 (CEST)

Nationality?[edit]

The first sentence states:

Zahn Tokiya-ku McClarnon (born October 24, 1966) is a Native American actor.

Most articles on actors mention the nationality first. In this case just 'American' or 'US'. Is there a reason it mentions Native American here? For example Conan O'Brien is not referred to an an 'Irish American' and the main text makes no mention that he specifically identifies primarily as native American (despite often playing specifically native roles).
