User:Geo Swan/An introduction to the notes on subpages under User:Geo Swan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are extensive notes I placed under User:Geo Swan. They are all, I believe, consistent with WP:User pages. They have not been subjected to the same scrutiny, or written to the same standards as an actual wikipedia article. And they all bear a __NOINDEX__ to prevent people finding them via search engines and mistaking them for wikipedia articles.

If they are useful to you, that's great. If you want to edit one, let's agree to move it out of user space, possibly to a subpage under Wikipedia:WikiProject Terrorism/Guantanamo.

A minority of these pages were formerly articles, that were in article space, that ended up in user space either because they were formally deleted, or they were articles for which I was the sole contributor of intellectual content, and I decided on my own that they were not, after all ready for article space. I keep them because I add to them, and keep in mind the possibility that they may be expanded to the point where they merit being restored to article space. I also keep them because they contain references that can be cannibalized and used in related articles, or they contain passages that can be used in related articles.

A minority of these pages are drafts of articles that I am working on, and don't yet feel ready to put in article space. Even if progress on some of these may seem stalled, I cannibalize their references too.

Most of these pages are rough notes, scaffolding, to support my work in article space, but are not intended to become articles in and of themselves. Many of these pages are referenced to WP:RS. Almost all the rest are earlier sub-pages, which could be referenced, if necessary, but I didn't bother because I was the only one using these notes, and it didn't seem necessary.

Many of these pages are potentially quite useful to anyone with a serious interest in working on Guantanamo related material. I am willing to answer any clear and civil questions about these notes. What would work best for me is if you have clear and civil questions you leave them on the talk page associated with the subpage, and then left a note on User talk:Geo Swan with a diff to your comment.

If there is a subpage you think is useful enough for you, that you would like to edit it too, I suggest the best thing would be to move it out from under User:Geo Swan to someplace else, like a subpage under Wikipedia:WikiProject Terrorism/Guantanamo.

I will add a list of the most potentially useful subpages later. Geo Swan (talk) 18:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
