Sanpellegrino S.p.A. is an Italian company that produces mineral water and soft drinks based in Milan. The company owns the S.Pellegrino brand and two other mineral water brands (Levissima, Panna) as well as some soft drink and aperitif brands, itself belongs to Nestlé.[1][2]

The company was founded under the name Società Anonima delle Terme di San Pellegrino on May 21, 1899. The company was initially based in the town of San Pellegrino Terme, where the name giving spring for the S.Pellegrino mineral water is located. In the first year, 35,343 bottles of S.Pellegrino mineral water were sold. 5,562 of them were shipped overseas.

1901 San Pellegrino opened the local baths and the city began to establish San Pellegrino Terme as a holiday resort for the high society. The location soon enjoys great popularity among the European aristocracy.

The company and their mineral water S.Pellegrino began to advertise in the local and national newspapers in the beginning of the 20th century. The water was advertised with its beneficial properties and its suitability for upscale gastronomy. To appeal to more tastes, the development of new lemonades started.

In 1957 the Acqua Panna company was taken over by Sanpellegrino.

1994 Nestle had a direct 25 percent stake in Sanpellegrino in the year 1993[7][8]. Since 1998, Sanpellegrino belongs completely to Nestlé Waters within the Nestlé Group.[9]

In 1999, the Sanpellegrino company celebrated its 100th anniversary with a series of events.

Aranciata Rossa, the popular Aranciata with blood orange, hits the shelves for the first time – along with the other Sanpellegrino fruit juice lemonades.

2010 was the first year they sold a billion bottles in a single year.

In 2019, the fruit juice drinks were renamed to Sanpellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks.
