16gb has created an edit in its sandbox of the Emergency Medicine Wiki article. The goal of the edit was to expand the content of article, focusing on information regarding:

  1. the financing associated with the specialty of emergency medicine,
  2. the context of emergency medical practice,
  3. issues (such as overcrowding) associated with funding (or a lack thereof) due to government mandates (such as EMTALA), and
  4. complexities associated with organizational coordination of emergency medicine (such as medical error).

Writing and edits were provided as follows:

  • Laura Rhodes drafted sections on reimbursement (compensation, payment for services, and funding for training (found in the Training section of the article under the subheading United States)),
  • Brytani Garnett drafted the section on different ED systems,
  • Eric Shiuey drafted the sections on overutilization and uncompensated care (as well as the introduction to the Reimbursement section),
  • Greg Hendrickson drafted the sections on EMTALA and medical error, and
  • David Cunningham drafted the section on patient-provider relationships.
