Information icon Hello, I'm JPxG. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Peter Boghossian—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. jp×g 22:11, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Thanks. I guess I'm curious why that was not seen as constructive? I went to the Boghossian page, and it was mistaken. I fixed the mistake, which seems to make the page more accurate. 76.99.71.45 (talk) 22:19, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I explained the edit on the talk page, but I don't see any response there. 76.99.71.45 (talk) 22:20, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

One last comment: If you go to the page for assistant professor, you will see many references throughout to the idea that to be an assistant professor is to be on the tenure track, including the chart at the bottom that lists assistant professor as within the tenure track only. It is true that some American universities call non-tenure-track faculty assistant professors, but that is a rarity. Moreover, Boghossian's dept site is clear that he is not on the tenure track. Someone coming to the wikipedia page familiar with the ordinary usage of the title "assistant professor" will be mislead by the unclear invocation of PSU's idiosyncratic usage. 76.99.71.45 (talk) 22:25, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
