St Mary's School Draft Page

Hi,

I've removed sources written directly by the school. The Independent Schools Council, and Girls Schools Association are by organizations that give detail on the school. Wikipedia article references have also been replaced with links. Is that ok?

Elderpoptarts, the more secondary sources you can add, such as the news articles, that would help the article's notability. See WP:ORGCRIT. Some of the facts like number of students or who the principal is can still be referenced to the primary sources of the directories / government / organization listings. Elderpoptarts, see if you can structure it per the guidelines in this essay WP:WPSCHOOLS/AG. That has some tips as to what detail to put in. I think the article's got good potential as it is backed up by a lot of government based websites. His patent attorney father saw potential and applied for a patent in his son’s name. Young Robert Patch signed his name with an "X"—he didn’t know how to spell yet. If that's indeed the case, then my daughter Aurora Gulli is the youngest woman who holds a patent.

In 2014, at the age of 3, Aurora saw her father turning off the light in her house. Believing that there must be an easier way to do the job, Aurora together with her brothers, Leonardo and Lorenzo, proposed to develop a plug which controls when to switch off the light automatically. Their father, excited by their spark of creativity, decided to file a patent on 31th, July 2014[2]. The patent was granted 3 years later on 11th, November 2017, when Aurora was 6 years old. Hi. Nice to see that you did review and analyzed my article, despite not getting the result I needed. But that's okay, seeing as that was my first article. I looked into your profile and it seems that you are an experienced user, so I guess it'd be nice to see you impart some wisdom and practice towards budding users.

I will be honest in that my citations weren't exactly the best, and I am willing to refine on that. In addition, the article is almost complete (There's one more section I need to work on). I will try to see if I can find better link references.

I think this is concerning Draft:Jiren (Dragon Ball). The main thing is to add that Reception section and find secondary sources that cover this character in detail, since that will be the main thing that dictates the notability of this fictional character. Notice many of the other Dragon Ball characters don't have their own articles, but the major ones like Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Bulma, which have detailed Reception sections, do. Cspinell, it needs a complete rewrite so that it isn't the same as the resumes or his website. You shouldn't need to provide quotes from his CV. Look for news sources that cover him in detail. The article needs to show he meets WP:NACADEMIC, which I think he should if he has a named professorship, but you'll need secondary sourced news articles again to reveal that, not press releases from the school. rejection of Newborn Behavioral Observations (NBO) system page

I am hoping you may be able to help me edit my NBO page. I've tried to change the text to reflect a more objective stance on the tool, but want to ensure it is objective enough for wikipedia's standards. KathrynR191, the issue is that it reads like a brochure touting the benefits of using the tool, and doesn't give a neutral perspective of the tool. There could be a Reception section on how the tool has been received by people in the medical field, and related awards and criticism (both positive and negative). Also the history of how it came about isn't that clear. What year was it released? How long has it been an idea? Who conceived of this? How is it being marketed? Who uses them? The doctors or the parents? Apparently there's training too. The citations can include some primary sources / research papers, but it should also have papers from researchers that aren't related or connected to the people in NBO that have cited that tool in their research. In fact, citations should be mostly secondary sources independent of the subject. Any journals or news articles that talk about this tool? Here are some news articles / videos on NBO. Hi,

I accept your decision on my page for Head of NASA and the 2 Amish Boys, but I just wanted to say that I created the page not because of Monstercat, or iTunes, but because every other album by Infected Mushroom has a page of its own. I figured that would warrant this album to have its own page as well. As for notability: Infected Mushroom has been a great influence on the psychedelic trance scene and the electronic music scene as a whole since the 90's, so I thought that'd be sufficient too. Hi scope_creep, I'm not sure what you mean by out of band references. The ones I know are good are the tweets from Thomas Astruc (creator), officiai website, and the voice actor tweets. However, there are other original research statements being fancrufted into the article such as "she represents the Yin" that should be tagged; clearly written after I scrubbed and crafted most of it. The Facebook is coming from Kira Buckland so that's a voice actor self-identifying that she voiced a character. Most of those are acceptable, again, if they are coming from their official social media. I have followed the format for comparable micro-brewery articles across Wikipedia.

There are plenty of other sources I tried to pick the ones that zoomed in on the points I was making. So thank you for the advice, I will revise suggested edits and try again. On another note, I am disturbed that you are referencing (as a threat to deletion) an unofficial and generally controversial policy which is not official Wikipedia policy WP:MILL. Is Wikipedia actually like government politics where the laws and rules are just there for morale? I'll be sad if that's true. I'm really enjoying contributing and editing.

I am baffled that there is any indication of a lack of notability. Beer is a significant part of both American history and culture and Alaska State history, culture and economics. Midnight Sun's place in that is tremendous. For many people a Midnight Sun Brewery beer is the only thing they will ever touch see purchase which is from the state of Alaska.

Hi Luke Kindred, I just discovered there's already an article in the mainspace for Midnight Sun Brewing Company and it's been around since 2015, so you should move your information over there. If it's significant to the history of the America there should be some decent writeups in books and journals there. Well, it doesn't matter since that article hasn't been put up for AFD over there since its creation, so it's probably going to stay around. Hope that helps! WP:MILL's there because there are hundreds of articles submitted every day that are essentially advertisements for a company or a person (like resumes or corporate profiles). If this one was more like that, I'd probably send it to speedy deletion for advertising and copyright violations, but it is written objectively and there are good sources to indicate it isn't a promotional piece. The rejection reason mentioned press releases by sponsoring organizations placed in local newspapers as a reason for rejection. However, none of the resource articles were press releases and were all natural coverage of the event and its impact. Four of the sources opensource.com, NET Magazine, The Daily WTF, and Business Insider are national. Technical.ly is regional, but not the conference's region. Only The Incline and Next Pittsburgh are local news sources and were used for factual information.

Only one of the sources is a blog by a single author and it was used only to get the number of sessions from a second source other than the official website. The WPRDC blog was used to note the international attendees but it is not by a single author so should not be eliminated as an RS. MAMusicologist, a lot of the sources aren't showing his notability as an independent artist. He's worked with a lot of well known acts as a supporting musician. But I'm needing to find more secondary sources that would enable him to meet WP:MUSICBIO. Independent Spirit Awards isn't as notable an award as the Grammys, and it's not clear if he received any individual Grammies besides with FLOW. Laura Sullivan got her Grammy, Seeger got his Grammy, but he only participated in their albums. I trimmed down the resume-stuffing peacock verbiage regarding his financial services career that is more suitable for LinkedIn profiles. If he did some major advancements with Raymond James, it should be supported by newspapers independent of the subject, not his own company's writeup. I don't think the Raymond James stuff is all that important to his artistry: I included it as I found it interesting. If it can't be substantiated I can't see it necessary for inclusion.

I think the reality of some of these smaller genre's is that the Grammy awards are not comprehensive. The Grammy's can go deep into every genre. The ZoneMusicReporter is a recognition by those that play the music of this genre on the radio. Note this from their nomination requirements: "If you meet the qualifications listed below, you're included in the field of award qualifiers:

An artist or label must have had a recording(s) that appeared in the Top 50 of our Top 100 Chart during the period December 2016 through November 2017 to qualify for all categories except "Album of the Year."

To qualify for "Album of the Year," a recording had to appear in the Top 10 of our Top 100 Chart during the period December 2016 through November 2017. Your recording did not appear in any previous years' ZMR Music Awards Qualifier list. If you meet these three criteria, you are eligible for nomination."

Likewise the Independent Music Awards: "The Independent Music Awards® is a global community of innovative Artists and engaged Fans. We believe artistry, diversity and the pursuit of excellence should be celebrated. And rewarded.

Now in its 17th year, The IMAs honor the most exceptional music, video, concert photography and designs by established and emerging talent. And connects them to a wider audience.

Both are international awards for their genres.

Not recognizing these awards would be like saying the Sundance Movie Awards or the Cannes Movie awards don't count because they aren't the Oscars.

MAMusicologist, you'll have to find some secondary sources to show that the Independent Music Awards are notable. I couldn't find any, so I had to make it a disambiguation page. Cannes and Sundance are notable as independent film festivals among mainstream media, so it should have similar coverage. Zone Music Awards I am not sure Wikipedia would consider that as notable as the Grammy as it is not listed among those in WP:MUSICBIO. This disappointing thing about this is that there are A LOT of artists on Wikipedia that don't qualify based MUSICBIO. As a new author, should I suggest we delete all those, too? The only possible overlap is that he UCCE/MCCU may from time to time select players from Cambridge University who might also play first class games for Cambridge University, but this does not recognise that The UCCE/MCCU also selects players from Anglia Ruskin University.

Crickbadger, please provide External links on the draft which points to only to UCCE or MCCU listings. It is currently pointing to CUCC, so that gives the impression that it's meant to be a listing of CUCC players, which is why I said it was redundant with List of Cambridge University Cricket Club players as a content fork. WP:CFORK. As for the billed name, this isn't necessary. I don't see any other lists of cricket teams and alumni that use the initial system outside of the CUCC article. They just use common names as with List of Australia Test cricketers. Finally, per WP:ALMAMATER, list only notable cricket players, that is, ones with Wikipedia articles. Thank you AngusWOOF. The reason I want this back is so I can edit it. After a lot of research, I now have references to 14 printed newspaper stories from 1971 through to 2005. Until recently, these were very hard to find, but these are now available at newspapers.com and newspaperarchive.com and I have the references to them, so I can completely rewrite anything that needs it. Over 40 years, through six different administrations, Kapneck calmed down the Maryland campus protest disruptions and went on to boost the State economy by bringing in thousands of European companies to partner with US companies, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs for the people of Maryland and other states. One example is the 2004 story about the Maritime Autowash, which had 400 employees (I spoke to the owner of the company). I also located copies of the official appointment letters from three governors.

I think this is an important story to tell. I'm just asking for a chance to present it at Wikipedia, where stories like this should be, and like you, I know there are many entries here that tell no story at all, so I'm just asking for the chance to edit this and present it for review. It may take me a few months to do it.

Photoloop, I don't think it was nominated for deletion, so you can still work on it in draft. The quotes can just be in regular quotes not italicized. The main issue was that it was presented like a eulogy or advertisement, all positive stuff about the person, and not objective. About the declined article on "Alex Henry Foster"

Hello, first of all, thank you for your taking the time to review my article :)

If I understood well, it was stated that the topic of the article “Alex Henry Foster” wasn’t suitable for an “artist/musician” page” as a solo artist since some of the accomplishments he did was with his band. But ain’t it normal for a singer/frontman of a band that has been spanning more than a decade to have accomplished a lot through his band, being the one initiating those accomplishments as the leader of the band?

And I don’t know if you’re familiar with French itself (language in which most of the articles I selected for this Wiki article have been written as the topic is French and reviews about him are often in French) and Canada, but Alex Henry Foster has been on major TV shows, such as Tout le monde en parle, which is nationwide, and his recent solo album was just covered with press from all around the country since its release. More articles were just released these last few days in press from a cost to another (Vancouver and Toronto Sun, Journal de Montréal/Journal de Québec) and was charting in the top sales on SoundScan reports, Billboard, l’Adisq & iTunes, ahead of Muse, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Queen and The Beatles… ain’t it enough of a reason to be recognized as an artist?

The "5 things" is the same agency article propagated across the different newspapers and should just be counted as a single source, so only post a single version of this and not the duplicated versions. You should list Billboard Canadian Albums charting at number 6 as well as the charting sources along with the other cover stories you mentioned. We have a separate URL from the main website (.ca vs. .com), publish our own articles and videos and have a fully distinct staff. Hi AngusWOOF You left me some feedback on an article I was creating for an Australian actor Alex Rathgeber. You rejected the article as it didnt have enough content or referencing to vallidate him being worthy of a Wiki page and enough reference validation. I apologise for the error. I am a new editor and I saw that the time to 'accept' and review a new article/page said up to 5 weeks so i thought I would input some of the info I had collated on Alex rathgeber and then publish so it would get into the queue for approval. I planned to go back and finish filling it all out with much more info and references - and obviously wrongly - assumed Id get to that before it was even looked at for approval. I have gone back and re edited the article and added in way more information and heaps more references. I do believe Alex rathgeber is eligible for a wiki page. He has won a national theatre award in Australia, headlined upwards of 10 professional mainstage productions and performed a lead role in the West End, as well as appeared on two world premiere cast recordings and his own album. I have re-submitted the page/article now that I have added more info. I was wondering if you were able to take a look at it and let me know if you think it needs anything else - or what else I may need to add - to get his page accepted. Tim, if you can find some more news articles that discuss Rathgeber's career, that would give him more notability. You need ones that focus mostly on Rathgeber himself, not ones where he is passively mentioned among the cast. In the comments, please highlight those articles. Hi. You recently rejected my article, "List of people from Morelos." Fair enough. I didn't even know there was a category for "people from" and have added it to the articles about "Morelos" and "Cuernavaca."

My first question is about the word "from." Does this mean "born in," and if so, why? Often times people are born in a particular place, but most of their lives and/or their most important achievements occur elsewhere. Three cases in point: The state of Morelos is named for Jose Maria Morelos because he won a key battle at the city of Cuautla during the Mexican independence movement. Yet he isn't mentioned in the "Morelos" page, and there is no list of "people from Cuautla." The second example is that the current governor of Morelos and past mayor of Cuernavaca isn't listed in either list. The third case is that a past president has lived in Cuernavaca since his retirement 40 years ago. None of these men were born in Morelos state, yet I think they are notable.

My second question is about adding people and/or localities to the list. Can I do this directly by going to the lists? Or will a 'bot' do it? Again, I don't know if people like General Morelos or President Echevarria belong on the "Morelos" list, but I believe Governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco does. He was an international soccer star before he became a politician but did not live in the state at the time. Should he go in the "athletes" category? What about an actress like Maria Felix? Or artist Diego Rivera, who lived in Cuernavaca for several years and made important contributions to the state?

Michael E Nolan, the list is okay, but should be organized better. As it covers the entire Mexican state, it should either be sorted as an alphabetical order list or by sorted by general categories instead of regions. Regarding your questions: 1) "from" typically covers notable residents whether born there or staying there, so yes, if a political leader retired there, you can add them to the list. If the list was intended to be only people born in state, then that's a different scope of the article. Regarding adding people to the list, are you talking about the draft list or the categories? There's quite a few extra articles on the tunnel due for publication this month which will be added. But we can't exclude a physical phenomenon once its been discovered and published - I just need to thicken up direct references over time. However does it not meet wiki's criteria as the subject is published?

I think Solarization and Solarisation should go to the disambiguation page as there is no primary topic. Solarization (photography) can be created. Since Solarization (photography) and Sabattier effect are still related they can have some discussion of this in background or legacy sections of each article. Pseudo-solarization or Sabattier effect is in the darkroom achieved (or inadvertently by mistake) by a mostly a short, non-imaging exposure during the development of the image . You should talk with the editors involved on that talk page on what is an appropriate section size for that. My point is that it doesn't need a completely separate draft article on the proposal. However, I am a little bit confused: I looked at wiki pages of similar software packages (PLECS, PSIM), and in my opinion they are missing almost everything you are suggesting to me. Unfortunately I cannot review all their references, since the articles they refer to are not freely available. However, just looking at authors of some references, you can see that these are "materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed", which is not allowed. Alexei, the main thing is to provide secondary sources independent of the subject so that the subject meets notability. WP:GNG Some primary material (from program or website) is allowed, but it shouldn't be mostly that. PSIM seems to reference a lot of independent papers that show extensive use by researchers. References are not required to be freely available, but it helps if there's a reference that has maybe a freely-available abstract to read or sample that the reader knows the reference is going to go into depth on the subject matter. RimaPOD2018, for the style, it shouldn't have bullet lists of mission statement verbiage. That makes it look like a copy of the website. As for sources, it needs ones that are not just from the immediate event (Oxford, All Events, own website). You need ones independent of the subject, like other newspapers that wouldn't normally cover it but because Jude Law was there, they would cover it. As for what's reliable, there's reliable sources WP:RS and general notability guide WP:GNG and not advertising WP:NOTADVERTISING AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:12, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Those only cite that a particular film is verified to be HFR and will justify that it can be on the list, but what I'm looking for is whether lists of HFR films are being put together by news articles or film websites that aren't IMDb user-generated. I'm wondering if you can further illuminate why the article "does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own" and/or doesn't meet Wikipedia's notability standards. The article, while concise, is not extraordinarily short and it describes the major milestones of its subject. It includes citations to a number of major independent media organizations, including the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Times As for notability, the foundation has been in continual operation for 14 years and most recently awarded a $15 million grant to a prominent non-profit civil rights organization. It didn’t get to any film festivals I believe, or win any awards (not yet anyways). It has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from internet media outlets though (Gizmodo, GeekTyrant, Cinema Blend, etc.). Is that enough for Vader Ep. I to warrant it’s own page?

I wouldn’t call them Roger Ebert or Gene Shalit. I do have something else to add. Star Wars Theory, the guy who created the short, says he’s been invited to various conventions and comic-cons (which I’m assuming involves Vader Episode I). YouTube Link to the video. He says it near the end at time stamp 1:57. I don’t think that’ll be good enough though, so I’ll try to keep digging up more things.

Hi Silvervox325, regarding the paid subscription news articles, you can add subscription=y in the citation to indicate that the article is behind a paywall. Per WP:PAYWALL, those are still acceptable as references. If part of the paid material such as the title of the article or an opening summary/paragraph is accessible, you can add the link to it and that would help tell the editor whether it's going to have significant coverage of the company. Allanbcool, the histmerge is for one of the admins to implement, so you don't need to worry about that. It's because the draft copy was worked on and then you copied it directly to the mainspace without letting it go through the AFC review, so it is merely trying to get to combine the edit histories of the draft and the current version into one page. As for peacock stuff, the article's lead was opening with "award-winning" verbiage so I was trying to remove that, to keep the tone neutral. Actually, it was supposed to be ConsequenceOfSound's Single of the Year, like we have for Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. Please highlight which articles meet WP:GNG and WP:ORGCRIT. A lot of the articles mention Getty herself and the foundation in passing. You can also resubmit the article, maybe another editor will see things differently. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:57, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Lena Coleman, it's not that it's not notable. It's more whether it has notability independent from Getty herself. As it stands, it would be better as a section within Getty's article to explain the foundation. See Arthur Ashe where his Foundation is part of the main article. If she's highly active in the Foundation, then she's not really independent of it. If it's running itself and has other decisions independent of Getty's input, it's more likely to be separate. There is only S.7000-A. I'm not sure what you are referring to in your question. That is the name that given to the set of property tax laws that affect the majority of people in New York State

Can you help me understand how to improve this article? This article is only the facts and it shows exactly why each individual property is taxed the way it is. This is a big question here because there is wild variation between like properties. This is probably true in other locations/states/nations. This is one of the reasons that it is important for wikipedia. It would help people to understand the tax law with real history and reasons all in one place.

It seems to have a lot of guessing, is that what I should add to this article to make it more notable/useful. I was trying to stick to only the facts.

There are several accounts of the origins of Proposition 13. The evidence for or against these accounts varies.

One explanation is that older Californians with fixed incomes had increasing difficulty paying property taxes, which were rising as a result of California's population growth, increasing housing demand, and inflation. Due to severe inflation during the 1970s, reassessments of residential property increased property taxes so much, that some retired people could no longer afford to remain in homes they had purchased long before. An academic study found support for this explanation, reporting that older voters, homeowners, and voters expecting a tax increase were more likely to vote for Proposition 13.[9]

Another popular explanation is Proposition 13 drew its impetus from the 1971 and 1976 California Supreme Court rulings in Serrano v. Priest, which somewhat equalized California school funding by redistributing local property taxes from wealthy to poor school districts. According to this explanation, property owners in affluent districts perceived that the taxes they paid were no longer benefiting their local schools, and chose to cap their taxes.

A basic problem with this explanation is that the Serrano decision and school finance equalization were actually quite popular among California voters.[9] It is true that Californians who voted for Proposition 13 were less likely than other voters to support school finance, but Proposition 13 supporters were not more likely to oppose the Serrano decision, and on average they were typically supportive of both the Serrano decision and of school finance equalization.[9]

Another explanation that has been offered is that spending by California's government had increased dramatically during the years prior to 1978, and taxpayers sought to limit further growth. The evidence supporting this explanation is limited, as there have been no studies relating Californians' views on the size and role of government to their views on Proposition 13. However, it is true that California's government had grown. Between 1973 and 1977, California state and local government expenditures per $1000 of personal income were 8.2 percent higher than the national norm. From 1949 to 1979, public sector employment in California outstripped employment growth in the private sector. By 1978, 14.7 percent of California's civilian work force were state and local government employees, almost double the proportion of the early 1950s.[10]

In addition, during the early 1960s, there were several scandals in California involving county assessors.[10][11] These assessors were found rewarding friends and allies with artificially low assessments, with tax bills to match. These scandals led to the passage of AB 80 in 1966, which imposed standards to hold assessments to market value.[12] The return to market value in the wake of AB 80 could easily represent a mid-double-digit percentage increase in assessment for many homeowners. As a result, a large number of California homeowners experienced an immediate and drastic rise in valuation, simultaneous with rising tax rates on that assessed value, only to be told that the taxed monies would be redistributed to distant communities. The ensuing anger started to form into a backlash against property taxes which coalesced around Howard Jarvis, a former newspaperman and appliance manufacturer, turned taxpayer activist in retirement.

Thank you AngusWOOF, but S.7000-A is part of that same movement during the period of high inflation of the 1970's. There are many New York Times articles about S.7000-A and many are cited in the article. It also was a movement that was organized by civic organizations here in Queens and Brooklyn. Are the New York Times articles not enough? Should I merge this into a larger topic? Should I simply abandon it? Let me know, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for your reply.

A property tax lawsuit was filed in April 25, 2017 against New York City and New York State by Tax Equity Now New York, a group that includes Jonathan Lippman, the law firm of Latham and Watkins representing homeowners, renters, real estate developers, the N.A.A.C.P., the Citizens Budget Commission and others[20].[21]

Justice Gerald Lebovits said in a four-page decision that the members must use the city’s corporation counsel, who has already said he will not represent them, when acting in their official capacity.[23]

Ryozzo the tables of tax rates are excessive detail. You need to summarize the law's components. What are the major aspects of it? You don't need to rewrite the entire law text. There should be a Background and Proposal sections on how it was put together. What Senate or House bill was proposed, and by whom and when? When was the A version passed? What was the property tax law before. Then there should be a Reception section on how it was rolled out, and the reaction by the public.
