toki pona question

Hi Jansegers,

Yes, I was a Splash presenter on toki pona at Stanford ("o kama sona e toki pona lon tenpo lili"). I originally learned from tokipona.org and by reading a few online texts a while ago (long prior to the publication of the book). In particular, I mainly learned it in 2009-2010, and, among other things, used it in a puzzle in the 2012 MIT Mystery Hunt. Unfortunately, I don't think I have access to anything that isn't available on archive.org. P.S. Looking at the German Wikipedia thread that another contributor mentioned above, I can say that I'm not very happy about some of the changes Sonja has made over time, particularly in the book. There have been some pretty major debates about the legitimacy/propriety/usefulness of some of the changes, although I've never participated in any of these debates. One issue that many people have experienced is that the official online materials stayed completely unchanged for a long time, during which many people learned and actively used the language, while Sonja took much longer than expected to finish the book and did not participate much in, or consult much with, toki pona user communities during that time. The book then appeared with some pretty considerable changes relative to the online version that people had been using. I suppose this echoes experiences that other conlangs have had in the past, certainly thinking of the Esperantidos and perhaps some of the circumstances around the Loglan/Lojban split. While my own toki pona use and thinking remains close to 2009-2012 usage, I don't think I can offer any references that help address the status or impact of the changes. Interesting! You can find the "classic" tokipona.org on https://www.archive.org/ but I'm not sure if it's directly archived on any actively-maintained toki pona site.
