Affirmative action article[edit]

I think I didn't write it out in detail, but the source states that "Many of these African students were given larger educational grants than native Chinese students, and hostility towards the Africans was a regular occurrence", taken from Nanjing anti-African protests. What do you think? Shawnc (talk) 01:40, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. Affirmative action usually only applies to those who were previously disadvantaged/discriminated against in the country in question. In the case of China, this would include Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongols, and other minorities against whom previous and currently policies are/were aimed. African students were never the target of any laws in China, thus labeling it "affirmative" in the sense of the word would be incorrect. The news-source you've found is definitely worthwhile, but not for that article. However, I can't think of were it could fit right now. It could possibly fit in the article on Xenophobia? Nativism? ..or check out the whole "Discrimination"-infobox on the side... Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 01:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS: sorry for the harsh comment on the revert, but that article is subject to regularly being stuffed w/ bullshit. :) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 01:52, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the comment. No problem, the story just seemed to me like it's similar to other cases, but I agree we should leave it off that article unless some sources label it "affirmative". Regards. Shawnc (talk) 06:33, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I closed that discussion because it was in the wrong area. Redirects are discussed on WP:RFD. If you'd like to go through there, that'd be great. Thanks. Killiondude (talk) 07:17, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK. thanks. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 08:30, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No personal attacks.[edit]

While I agree that characterizing the disputed edit as wp:vandalism was not correct, "I think you've lost it completely" would fall under wp:no personal attacks. Please remember to focus on the content, not the editors.- Sinneed 13:17, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On my talk page, you posted: "I agree half-way, though I wonder why I can be accused of vandalism w/o the accuser being similarly reprimanded. "vandalism" is the gravest personal attack one can use around here. thanks Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 13:24, 15 October 2009 (UTC)"[reply]

Because that is a comment on the content, not the editor. If someone (as they have) came to my talk page and said "I have deleted your edit as it was wp:vandalism" that would be ok, even if I thought (as I did) that their argument was specious. If they said "I am deleting your edits because you are a stinking vandal." that would be a wp:PA. Feel free to respond here, if you wish (or on my talk page), as I will be watching for a response or concern. - Sinneed 13:31, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Let's just leave it... yesterday's snow. He apologized. I'm not someone who dwells on stuff forever. Thanks for your response though. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 13:32, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are very welcome.- Sinneed 13:34, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dolores Labs page[edit]

Hi, you added Advert and Wikify to the Dolores Labs page about a month ago due to all the corporate PR-speak. I just removed/rewrote a lot of it. Do you think it still deserves the tags?

(disclaimer: I know their CEO but have no financial connections to the company) Hamster128 (talk) 01:26, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks ok to me now. :) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 01:32, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Webb[edit]

Hey Chooyoo!

LOL thanks 4 letting me know! I had no idea this Mark Webb existed anyways but reading about that republic-Im a fervent backer of any area that wants to be independent, specially one where I was born at named Puerto Rico!!!-well, I found his name and guessed the comment next to it-that he's not important-(LOL!) was actually the vandalism!

I found it rather strange that his article said nothing about where he was born at, through!

Well I got an anecdote to tell everyone about, LOL!

Thanks and God bless!

Interwiki sorting[edit]

I've tried to answer your question, in Wikipedia:Bot requests/Archive 31#interwiki_sorting. If that does indeed answer, please could you pop a {{resolved}} at the top of that thread; if not, feel free to add more. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  12:55, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Doing your Research[edit]

I would appreciate any advice in help with this process. I am a legitimate journalist (U.S. Navy, 5 years) for All Hands, and other Military publications including working for the LA Times. Please when I start a page, help me, or do some research. Passion Revealed is a legitimate event covered by NBC and has an article I referenced from the LA Times. So please do your research before commenting. I may not be Wiki Savvy as of yet, but I have over 20 years as a journalist/writer exp. Thank you! Like I said, please help, if not, please do not comment. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by FashionModelEditor (talkcontribs) 19:22, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
