Romanisation of North Korean articles[edit]

Hi! You have moved many North Korean topics from the McCune-Reischauer Romanisation to the Revised Romanisation. In North Korea is the McCune-Reischauer Romanisation still the official system and because of that, North Korean topics should be using the McCune-Reischauer-System. Please read the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean)#Romanization and revert your changes. Thanks, IGEL 15:03, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

To my memory I haven't done any North Korean specific stuff. North Korean uses a variant of McCune-Reischauer only. However, my reading of the naming conventions for Korean romanization indicates M-R is only to be used for specifically North Korean topics (meaning post 1948), not topics that may relate to what is present day North Korea but were not at the time they took place (e.g. Gwanggaeto, Goguryeo, etc.). Image copyright problem with Image:EulchiMundeokWeb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:EulchiMundeokWeb.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 13:33, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

infobox & romanization[edit]

hi, i noticed you contributing a lot to korean history topics. thanks for the great work. just wondering if you'd like to take up creating a single flexible infobox that can be used for monarchs from various periods, with various combinations of personal/posthumous/temple/courtesy names. right now, it's a mess, & i've just had to create one (posthumous+birth) just for goguryeo. visviva's figured out how, but hasn't actually gotten around to making one (see korean mos & talk). also, is the romanization for Yeong'yang of Goguryeo correct? i didn't know rr used apostrophes. thanks. Appleby 02:09, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I'd like to echo the welcomes above. It's great to have you around.

In particular, I'd like to thank you for your expansion of Choe Chi-won. But in the future, please do have a care to use Wikipedia:Requested moves when you want to move an article to a different name and are unable to do so by normal means. Happy editing! -- Visviva 10:07, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi again, just wanted to say thanks for all of your editing, especially your recent improvements to Gyerim and Bone rank system. Great stuff! -- Visviva 10:03, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Visviva has worked hard to create a brand new Portal:Korea. Please take a look & contribute if you can. I think the new Template:Korea topics has the potential to be a more useful reference tool than categories or lists, if editors continue to expand and update it. It's also a good reminder for help & requests on ye olde notice board. Hopefully, this will help revive some activity all around. Appleby 22:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

hwarang[edit]

i hope you don't mind, but i tried to clean up this article a little more. i know you worked on it a lot after the anonymous editor's huge, er, dump, but there was still a lot of commentary, thinking-out-loud wordiness, as well as logical flow problems. since i'm no expert on the subject & have not read the sources you cited, please feel free to make sure i didn't interfere with your researched info. thanks. Appleby 01:18, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

you might want to leave your comment at goguryeo, & help keep an eye on it; that page has been under constant attack recently. thanks. Appleby 04:38, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your move[edit]

Great that you renamed the article. I just realized that you just cut and pasted the contents into an article with the new name. That means that the edit history of the article has disappeared. It might be a good idea to contact an administrator to set this right.--Niohe 16:54, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jules Brunet photo[edit]

Hi Straitgate. I think I found the image on a website a long time ago, and it is Public Domain because of its age. Would you share the name of the other Frenchman you are researching? I may be of some help. Best regards. PHG 05:51, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for move of Empress Myeongseong[edit]

Hello, Straitgate. I come here to inform you a request for move to the article of Empress Myeongseong to Queen Min by an user named Sennen goroshi (talk · contribs). The pertinent discussion has been open at Talk:Empress Myeongseong#Requested move. Since you seem to be interested in editing the article, your input would be appreciated on this. Thanks.--Caspian blue 00:53, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Queer Street (London)[edit]

The article Queer Street (London) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject is an alternate name for a non-notable street in London (or a redirect would have been in order). Article is unreferenced--though its content clearly derives from http://www.coventgarden.uk.com/featureshistory/fh_streets.php?c_id=street&street=51&submit=Go&submitted=TRUE.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Drmies (talk) 02:03, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the template. A large portion of the text seems to be taken verbatim from the source I linked on the article and the rest has some slight changes. Can you explain this please? OlYeller21Talktome 17:44, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:TorrentsofSpring.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TorrentsofSpring.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. File source problem with File:Reichstag (sketch, 1894).jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Reichstag (sketch, 1894).jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
