Difference between The Mary Sue and Watchers on the Wall[edit]

On the off-chance that your question about WatchersontheWall vs. The Mary Sue was serious, here's the answer. The Mary Sue is an entertainment news blog whose principal editor and founder have been recognized as experts on popular media by third parties (see bio and NYTimes writeup. For these reasons, The Mary Sue meets Wikipedia's policy on acceptable self-published sources, WP:SPS. Watchers on the Wall is specifically devoted to Game of Thrones/SoIaF rather than to news in general or even entertainment news in general, so it is more likely to be biased. I'm not familiar with the site, but if you can show that its writers are experts, that it too meets WP:SPS criteria, then you might be able to use it. I realize that the issue is probably moot because better sources have been found for the text in question, but now you know for next time. Darkfrog24 (talk) 00:25, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
