Hello! About Jack Rose...[edit]

First, greetings- happy to meet you! Is this your first foray into any of the Wikipedias? If you ever need help or wish to learn the copyright rules for uploading photos, to Wikimedia Commons or editing, feel free to contact me! The photo of Jack Rose is amazing, and Simon Fernandez is in my top 5 photographers, (at least) --and I've had to seek out about 1,500 photos out of the 2,000 I've placed! What strikes me is that both photos- the Wikipedia version and the Mojo version make me think surely Jack Rose himself must have seen it, and I believe he would have submitted a correction- at least to Fernandez at Mojo Magazine. Do not change the photo unless you contact Fernandez himself. Not all left-handed people play their instruments differently. I myself am an amateur guitarist- we are taught to make chords with the left hand and strum with the right. I believe that's exactly what Rose is doing in the following You Tube video: [1]. If you still believe the photos are wrong, my email (to the left of my page is activated and won't show your email address unless you wish. There I can give you Fernandez' email address too. I hope I answered some of your questions. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 00:11, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me. Ordinarily my involvement with Wikipedia is limited to the correcting of errors/vandalism. It's sort of like knitting. Keeps me busy and out of trouble. I am interested in the Jack Rose photo because I am interested in upholding Jack's legacy. I'm not sure why you directed me to the video of Jack playing Kensington Blues. It shows Jack playing a right-handed guitar in right-handed fashion, and it proves my point. Also, Jack was married, and you can see his wedding ring in the photo yet it is on the wrong hand...because it is a mirror image. Jack may or may not have seen this while he was alive, but the fact remains it is a mirror image. I would be happy to contact Simon Fernandez about it and can contact you to get his email address, however I don't see where your email address is listed. I do see an email address for him here: http://www.flickr.com/people/40550965@N05 I won't change the photo unless I get permission from Mr. Fernandez. My apologies for the lengthy wait for my response. Generally, I expect people to respond on my talk page- I don't know why!! My best answers about Jack Rose are: A) I really know next to nothing about the man, but the photo was so exquisite that when I was looking for a photo for an other musicians in Simon Fernandez' photostream, and I felt compelled to request use of that photo here. I really don't have much in the way of photographic computer smarts- only Simon would have those answers. Also, B) when you visit my talk page, or User page (or that of any editor willing to make the choice) look in the left-handed column, and under either "Interaction" or "Toolbox" (I forget which!) there should be a link saying Email this user. To contact people with Flickr, there is always a link to that person's email if they so choose to enable it. Happy Holidays! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 14:24, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've noticed that some people reply on their own pages and other people reply on others' pages. I don't communicate with other Wikipedians enough to have a preference. Anyway, I've just checked, and it is "Toolbox". About Jack's photo, Simon and I have been emailing each other back and forth, and it was as I had suspected: the original photo in the magazine article had been flipped for layout purposes. He has since added the original photo to Flickr, and I have corrected Jack's page. Thanks and happy holidays to you too! Vandemark (talk) 14:59, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
