Curry

Hello! Thanks for the effort you're putting into the Curry article. There is a problem, without providing for sources for your claims it looks like a lot of original research. I'm guessing someone is going to undo your edits at some point. If you have references to back up your claims it would be a good idea and helpful to the article if you would add them in. Tackling your questions by point

1. Opening Summary: You are correct, as long as the information is in the main body of the article, properly referenced, then it doesn't need a citation in the lead. If another editor comes along and deletes that information saying it's unsourced or adds a "citation needed" tag you can revert that edit as long as you state in the edit summary why you've done so. There's no need to say "see below" or use any other indication like that, it should be assumed by the reader that the main body expands on the statements in the lead.
2. The article itself: I have no particular interest in the article itself so I have no ideas on how to move forward on it overall. But to answer you question about discussing it with others, that's what the talk page for the article is for. It might get a little frustrating if people don't respond to your questions and comments but after a while (days?) this just means that you should go ahead and be bold and make the changes you think are needed and in your edit summary add something like "see Talk page" to the end of your normal edit summary. As for the sections that look like personal knowledge and/or contain no or few references, for the time being you can tag them with {{cn}} and if no one deals with it in a reasonable amount of time (at least a week, though usually we like to give it a month) then that stuff can be deleted. Bringing this stuff up in the talk page can help the process along.
3. Linking: See WP:OVERLINK. You are correct again, in fact we should not link common terms at all including "India" and "mustard" (unless the term is directly important to the subject then the link can be justified, "India" is not necessary to link to while "mustard", if it's a common ingredient in curry, could be linked to). Also useful to note is that we only need to link to something the first time it occurs in the article. So if a link is made to "mustard" in the lead paragraph then it does not need to be linked anywhere else in the article. SQGibbon (talk) 14:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

The infobox issue is a regular warhorse; some editors have an agenda to impose infoboxes on all WP articles, and are deaf to the argument that, while these boxes have utility within certain articles, they are inappropriate for others. The matter has been gone over endlessly, hence the snippy nature of the discourse. WP policy is quite clear: whether to add an infobox to an article is a matter of consensus among the involved editors. It is clear where the consensus lies here.
