Renato Antonio Cordero Romo (born 16 April 2003) is a Chilean footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Universidad de Chile.

Club career[edit]

Born in San Felipe, Chile, Cordero came to the Universidad de Chile youth system at the age of ten[2][3] and made his professional debut in a Chilean Primera División match against O'Higgins on 24 July 2022.[4] Previously, he was on the bench in the Copa Libertadores match against Argentine side San Lorenzo on 18 March 2021.[5] In December 2022, he signed his first professional contract.[6]

International career[edit]

At under-20 level, Cordero was called up for the Costa Cálida Supercup in September 2022, but he was withdrawn from the squad due to a muscle injury.[7] The next year, he represented Chile at the South American U20 Championship, making three appearances.[8][5]

At under-23 level, he was included in the squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.[9][10]
