Stefano Cherchi

Stefano Cherchi (8 March 2001 – 3 April 2024) was an Italian jockey.[1]

Career[edit]

Cherchi had 38 wins in the United Kingdom riding horses trained by fellow Italian Marco Botti.[2] In total he rode the winners of 106 races in Britain and a further two in Australia.[3]

In 2021, he won the Grey Horse Handicap riding Mitrosonfire.[4]

Personal life[edit]

His girlfriend Brittany is the daughter of Irish jockey Kieren Fallon.[5]

On 20 March 2024, Cherchi was injured when his horse Hasime fell while racing at Canberra, Australia.[6] On 3 April he died in hospital from his injuries, at the age of 23.[7]
