I'll review this by Friday/Saturday at the latest. Thanks Secret account 02:08, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking this one on as it is quite different from previous Alabama seasons articles I have worked on. I do look forward to working through this process with you. Patriarca12 (talk) 23:42, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing....

  • "The 1943 Alabama Crimson Tide football team (variously "Alabama", "UA" or "Bama")" Is it necessary to list the various names the team went by? Were those nicknames commonly used in 1943? If not remove..... I also don't think "variously" is the right wording for it.
Removed altogether as the other names are more geared to what Alabama is referred to at present, not in 1943.
  • "announced its decision to cancel the 1943 season, because only two Alabama players" awkward wording/grammar in "because only", fix
    Fixed
  • Why the decision to be named as the "Alabama Informals"
  • Were the standings considered official per NCAA rules and part of Alabama all-time record? Article doesn't explain, please clarify.
I included a citation in the template for the statement "Seven other SEC schools did not field a team due to World War II" to help clarify. However, Alabama officially does not include the 1943 season in their all-time record. If having the standings template is confusing, I can remove it altogether.
  • I presume all the teams in the conference also had the same problem, but the article doesn't do a good job explaining it. Only Alabama and one sentence discussing what the SEC stated what the teams should do in case the regulation hinders them from fielding a team. Some expansion is needed
  • "The decision was made at that time because only two Alabama players were available to compete on the squad as a result of the Army not changing their policy that prohibited their cadets from competing in intercollegiate athletics." This is the third time in the paragraph the Army policy is mentioned. Cut everything after "of the Army".... as we already know what happened.
    Removed
  • "The cancellation of the season marked only the third time" "of the season" is redundant wording, remove
    Removed
  • Why didn't Thomas coach the Informals?
Included a cited sentence near the end of the "1943 Crimson Tide" section telling what Thomas did instead of coaching during the 1943 season.
  • "Not officially sanctioned by the University, the Informals were allowed to utilize both equipment and the facilities of the Crimson Tide." - Be weary of WP:OVERLINKING
Delinked articles linked in the lead of the article
  • Wikilink Draper Prison
The Draper Prison referenced in this article is located in Montgomery, Alabama, but the one linked on WP is in Draper, Utah. I would prefer to not create redlink, but will defer to you on this.
  • "In the game, the Seadogs (the V-12 was not called the Bulldogs)" ok.... remove the bulldogs section
    Removed
  • "Stephenson and scored on an eight-yard run in the third quarter" Who's Stephenson? Also fix the grammar issues. In fact the whole Howard section is a mess.
  • "In order to have enough students eligible to participate on a team, the SEC changed its eligibility restrictions to allow for any civilian to play as long as they had not played four years previously or professionally." Can you better clarify the "four years previously" to something like as long as they had not played four years of college football. That what the source states and the sentence is rather confusing in meaning.
    Clairfied
  • I don't see why citation 10 is needed, off-line source in which the other citation perfectly covers the information.
    Removed
  • No image, sources are reliable, no close paraphrasing concerns in 5 random citation checks.

This article needs a proper copyedit as there is some issues with the prose, on hold for now. Secret account 18:18, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking the time for the review. I will work on these issues over the next couple of days. Patriarca12 (talk) 01:17, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I passed the article, I fixed one of the two concerns left and the other isn't necessary for GA status, just asking. Thanks Secret account 17:20, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1943 Alabama Crimson Tide football team1943 Alabama Informals football team – The 1943 Alabama Crimson Tide football team did not exist. The team is not recognized by the University of Alabama [1] (page 177.) Thus it should not be included as the Crimson Tide but the "Informals" as the name of the team that actually played, despite WP:NAMECHANGES. I am neither suggesting that this article doesn't meet notability nor should be deleted. But this should not be included in the Alabama Crimson Tide football continuity. But rather part of the "lore" section of the football program. UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:33, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Further explanation I am advocating the page move to 1943 Alabama Informals. The removal of the grey link in the seasons section to the lore section of the Crimson Tide football navbox. The links in the infoboxes from 1942 and 1944 to link to each other, and the 43 Informals to be linked in the see also sections of the 42 and 44 pages.UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:54, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Team was not sanctioned by the university. Might as well have been a bunch of frat boys playing flag football for all the university is concerned. Lizard (talk) 05:02, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Go for it! – per nom. 🎓 Corkythehornetfan 🎓 17:03, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
