WELL DONE, BEAUTIFUL NEW TABLE

Excellent new table there, it was made by an unknown user. mmmm... Please come forward if it was you because it deserves a brilliant barnstar. Good Work! Jath16 17:44, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Table & and role information

Hello, everyone, instead of reverting it again, let's talk about it: *no* biography of any actor or actress includes the box office fact - if you want to mention how long a movie stayed in cinemas, write it into the movie`s article and not on the actor's page. The same things applies for cast & crew members - this information also belongs on the page of the movie. I think it's more important to note the role, so non-Tollywood viewers learn who Ajith is and what role he played. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people out there who don't know about him (yet.) --Plumcouch 18:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello ,i knoew what you mean, what do u suggest we do? Jath16 19:50, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I suggest, we wait for User:Benzee to reply, too, since he seems to be dedicated to this article as well. Then, we'll see. If an unknown keeps vandalizing the page, we'll ask an admin for help. Hope this is okay for everyone. What do you guys think? --Plumcouch 19:58, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
I have a problem with the Tamil box office info expressed as number of cinemas in which film was shown, and number of days it stayed. That doesn't BEGIN to touch on income, and profits. It strikes me as a mystification adopted by film distributors, to avoid saying anything that might be used against them in terms of taxes. But if we want to understand what films succeeded, and which gave the cast and crew some industry clout, we need the real figures. I agree that all of this info (if info it is) should be in the movie articles. We can however say that "the film did well at the box office" or "the film was not a box office success" or such mild statements, in the actor/actress's bio. Use of terms like megahit and flop sounds hysterical and should be avoided. Zora 20:46, 15 May 2006 (UTC) (being stuffy)

Latest News: User:Anwar saadat is back as user:212.32.85.221

What do you suggest we do about this vandalist. Fign him on the ajith page history! Check out his history, he is purposly putting the days vijay films ran down, so they will look like flops. We must stop him, for the neutrality of Wikipedia. Jath16 15:41, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Stats

Who are those anons who keep on fiddling with the stats of the film play dates, etc?? Does this article need to be semi-protected?Blnguyen | Have your say!!! - review me 04:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

No, I suggest the table should just be removed. It's a gift to any vandal or newbie. Nobleeagle (Talk) 07:08, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

CheckUser

Most of the anons who post useless stuff in this article seem to be from the UK and have the same IP [1], [2], [3], [4]. I think that this fellow is the same person but is using anon ips to get around consensus and disrupt people who are working on this article. I feel that soon time will come when a checkuser will have to be performed.- Aksi_great (talk) 08:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Anwar lives in the UK, is that right? Nobleeagle (Talk) 00:17, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi im trish, i have seen that the ajith article is very neat and very nice. Please may some one also add in the heroines he acted with as it will be hugely conveniant.

Thank you guys Trish86 10:42, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Soz, don't worry guys i've dun it Trish86 11:20, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

I certainly dont think thats the name of a movie (Is it?!). And the only alternative, is that its about a movie thats yet to be named. IMO, it doesnt makes sense in having an article on a movie that hasnt even been named yet. Thoughts, anyone? -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK

Challenging roles

Dear fellow editors, I have removed the "Challenging roles"-section, because I feel that it is not up to us to judge which role is challening. If you can cite a well-known critic, such a section might be appropriate, but just noting Ajith's most popular movies and describe them as challenging simply will not do: That's not neutral and not POV. If you have a different oppinion on this, please contribute here at the Wikiproject Indian Cinema [5] and voice your concerns. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 14:05, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

You asked for a third opinion on WP:3O. I agree, the "Challenging roles" list is redundant with the table. I have also removed some lists that were in two places in the article, the information doesn't need to be repeated verbatim twice. I'm not good enough with table syntax to spot the differences in the table in the two revisions, so can't really comment on that. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 15:53, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Locked it

I've locked it to prevent vandalism by anonymous users;although in my opinion;all articles must be prevented from anon editing.S.GaneshKumar 16:06, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello, Ganesh,
I removed the tag again. By simply adding the tag, the article will not be protected. Only admins can do that. If you wish to protect the article, please go here: Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 16:29, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

References

At the time of writing, the second and third references are not valid sources. Ref 2 links to an article that makes no mention of the statement to which the ref is intended to pertain, while ref 3 goes straight to an official website homepage, which fails to clearly corroborate the statement and does not meet citation guidelines. Consider reviewing. Adrian M. H. 19:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Photo??

I'm surprised to see that there's no photo in this page. After reading through everything that has happened in this talk page, it seems incredible to me that no one has made an effort to get hold of a copyrighted photograph. --Madhu 13:34, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

De-gushed

I trimmed the article of all fangush and unnecessary detail. The career section should not just repeat the filmography. There are a great many unreferenced statements, and the awards section needs a lot of work. We need the names of the awards he won, and links or references. I may have left some utterly trivial awards.

I beg the Ajith fans to refrain from reverting or adding more fan-worship. A dignified article is a better tribute to Ajith than a long, meandering, unreadable article full of over-the-top praise for the actor. If anyone who is not already an Ajith fan visits the article, a good article might induce that reader to look up some of his films. A bad article will send the reader away with a bad taste in his/her mouth, and no desire to see any Ajith films at all. Zora 09:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Oath

I heareby take oath solemnly to dedicate the rest of my life to defend the sanctity, glory and honour of our dearest Thala from malicious edits and editors. I shall not eat, drink, rest or make love until Thalaism reaches full bloom. The revolution has begun.

He's a human being, fallible like the rest of us, not a god. Please don't be silly. Zora 10:02, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Awards

The awards section still needs work. We need to say exactly WHAT awards he won. Best actor? Supporting actor? Villain? New face? I'm not sure what awards are given by some of the organizations; I'm most familiar with Filmfare. A number of the awards need references. Also, if it's a major award ceremony, I think even nominations should noted. There must be some -- a bevy of awards usually means some noms as well. Zora 08:06, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Please Please Please

Soem one take authority to tidy up and make this article better. A great actor should not deserve such fate.

GA review

This article is reasonably well-written, probably at least 'B' class, but fails GA status on several points.

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation): b (all significant views):
  5. It is stable.
  6. It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned): b lack of images (does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  7. Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

Needs a good copyedit for some of the language, and citations (references should be placed at the end of sentences, after any punctuation marks. The article should reference reliable sources, which does not include other wikipedia articles. Several wikipedia articles are listed in the references section. Please also review WP:REF for guidelines on how to format references; full citation information (author, title, publication, date of publication, date of retrieval) should be included, instead of just a URL. Also, please change the 'notes' to 'references' section header.

I have a problem with this sentence in the LEAD: "He is currently South India's most popular actor, with fan bases worldwide beating the number of fans for Rajinikanth." It is unsourced, and appears to be largely hearsay and original research. Please check the article for other sentences and statements such as this.

The references to Indian rupees should probably have some reference to the indian rupee article to assist non-Indian readers in identifying the currency. "Rs 500 million" is hard for a non-Indian to identify; but "Rs 500 million" at least has the link so we know what currency is being referred to.

Most of these are minor, but I also don't think it's quite ready for GA status based on the heated debate tag (lacks article stability). It looks like things are calming down, but I think it would be good to wait a little while to make sure the edit wars have cooled off before moving forward to GA status. Alwar remake

{{editprotected}}

  • Please add the following note to the filmography - Alwar is remade in Kannada by Puneet Rajkumar
  • Link to Anjaneya (film) is wrong in the filmography section. The correct link is this
  • How long is this article going to be protected without any updates?
