Ajith Kumar[edit]

DragoMynaa, Kailash29792, Srivin - how can the title be changed from Ajith Kumar to Ajith (actor) on such a prominent article without any discussion?

  • Every single one of his recent films credit him in the titles only as Ajith Kumar - Valimai, Nerkonda Paarvai, Viswasam, Vedalam, Yennai Arindhaal, Veeram.
  • As a racer, he was credited only as Ajith Kumar [1]
  • "Ajith" is merely like referring to actors such as "Rajini(kanth)", "Kamal(Haasan)", "Siva(karthikeyan)" etc.

Why was it even changed? Surely, it must be reverted back? TFPC Vishal (talk) 23:10, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TFPC Vishal The name should not be changed as Ajith is his stage name in multiple films including Aval Varuvala, Vaali, Mugavaree, Amarkalam, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Paasamalargal, Attahasam, Dheena, etc. I watched these movies on Youtube. DragoMynaa (talk) 00:47, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that seems like a personal choice of yours, rather than a reason. Reverted. TFPC Vishal (talk) 08:31, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment from Manojkumar Challa[edit]

Requesting edit[edit]

I request an edit in the occupation section in the lower right side. It says Ajith is a "race car driver", which I feel is quite derogatory in the vocabulary itself. He has been a racer in various recognised rallies and events. My request is to change the term "race car driver" to "professional Racer"Tejai11000 (talk) 16:49, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I don't agree that "race car driver" is derogatory. For example, even F1 world champions such as Fernando Alonso have "racing driver". I have changed it to that. RandomCanadian (talk | contribs) 17:04, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Tejai11000: I can't even fathom what aspect of "race car driver" one could find derogatory as it literally describes an action—driving—and the mechanism used during the undertaking of that action—a race car. It's not like anybody's calling him a shit-shoveler or something. "Professional racer" is problematic for two reasons: 1) We can infer through the word "occupation" that the person is being paid to work, so "professional" is pointless. 2) "Racer" seems vague, as one can race many different types of vehicles. I do notice Csaba Kesjár is described as a racing driver, so is Derek Warwick and Dale Earnhardt, so I agree with RandomCanadian's choice. If you have any further objection, you will need to establish consensus via discussion here before any other changes will be made. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:14, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just for reference, the main reason I made the partial change above is because that is what both the other articles we mention and the categories (eg. Category:Indian racing drivers) use. RandomCanadian (talk | contribs) 17:30, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@RandomCanadian: I was looking at similar category and article title structures. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:27, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies[edit]

@Lisajonah: Hi there, re: this, if you're going to write about controversies, you have to be aware of a few things, including that many editors don't like sections devoted to controversies, as they tend to focus on negative events, which makes it hard to present a neutral point of view. You should try to find more intuitive areas within the article to include content about controversies. Second, you have to consider the 10-year value of the content you are adding, since Wikipedia is not a gossip site. Third, you have to present a complete narrative of the controversy with the Five Ws in mind, so that people who are unfamiliar with Kumar will understand the entire story. A statement like this doesn't tell me anything about what the controversy was:

"During Naan Kadavul filming Ajith was forced to back out of the project by director Bala as Ajith was beaten and exploited with bad words and was asked to return the advance amount given to him."

People leave projects all the time. Why do we care about this as a "controversy"? And this controversy I don't understand at all:

"Actor G.V Prakash during a twitter controversy with fans of Ajith framed them as a "tortoise group"."

What is a "tortoise group" and why do we care that Prakash called anybody that? There just isn't enough information here to communicate what these controversies are, or why we should care about them. Same for the stuff about the Kumar/Vijay fan rivalry. It seems so trivial. I have cut the content. Sorry. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:45, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
