Many problems here

  • Very few sources anywhere
  • Sources are not filled in : author, dates, publisher etc
  • The prose is not of an acceptable standard. Many confused sentences: "Ajith is the middle son of three children others being Anil Kumar and Anup Kumar" and "born to a Sindhi mother and Tamil Iyer father was brought up as a Hindu so followed the principle teachings" and "Schooling days were numbered for Ajith as he dropped out of Asan Memorial Sr. Secondary School" and "He also took it on realising an income in the job"
    • That's just in the first para. Heaps of errors.
  • Film pics/posters - you need to prove that you are the owner of the studio or the artist.
  • Mos violations in the headers.

Sakiliyan

We have put his Sakiliyan caste background in the article. This is important information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.43.97.132 (talk) 15:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

thala is not the title of ajith. He is known only among his fans by this name. If it so, Vijay is known by several names among his fans. Please refrain. This is not a fan blog! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Preetmalar (talkcontribs) 11:52, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Birthplace

Ajith was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh India
born to a Sindhi mother and Malayalee father.
So how exactly is he Tamalian?
This has been raised in other multi-language actors profiles as well. Why is his name written in Tamil? Then you might as well put his Telugu name and any future languages he decides to peruse(that was sarcasm). I would remove any alternative name altogether as with Ajith it is confusing. He has a Malayalee father, a Sindhi mother and was born in Andhra Pradesh.
So can someone fix this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.104.43.160 (talk) 13:30, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I have corrected this issue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayank12 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Parents

An interview given by Ajith himself to the The Hindu. He identifies his dad as a Keralite and mom as a Sindhi from Kolkata. He also goes on to say that he started conversing in Tamil only after entering into the Tamil film industry.

http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/fr/2007/08/24/stories/2007082450900100.htm

Note to fans of Ajith: if you must change his origin to Tamil, please provide a better reference. Also don't quote from some site created by his fans. Thanks Mayank12 (talk) 21:07, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Your correct. Even Ajith had mentioned in some interviews that his dad is a keralite and his mom is a sindhi. I don't find any reasons to hide the regionality of a person. That too in an online encyclopedia.

Nandadnk (talk) 05:15, 8 February 2009 (UTC)NandaNandadnk (talk) 05:15, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, a Kerala Iyer is not a Malayali. Kerala Iyers are Tamils who had settled in Kerala for a few generations. Most Kerala Iyers from Palakkad speak Tamil as their mother tongue. -The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 04:56, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
There is nowhere mentioned in the transcript of the interview that Ajith started conversing in Tamil only after entering the Tamil film industry. The statement has been made by the author of the article, Ms. Malathi Rangarajan and not by Ajith.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 05:01, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Kerala state Iyers cant be called as Tamil people. And according to your concept should we consider they do not belong to India itself since all Brahmins are from Aryan race???!! So a person should be recognised by the state where he is born and his mother tongue... Ajith forefathers and his father are from Palakkad it comes under Kerala state with Malayam language. Obviously he is a Keralite. When asked in interviews for his failure to perform comedies in cinemas , Ajith replied since he has problem with language. In his earlier films like Amaravathi, Pavithra his voice is dubbed by Vikram as well.--The wind or breeze 09:20, 14 June 2010 (UTC) Eventually its clear he started speaking Tamil only after getting into cinema.--The wind or breeze 09:17, 30 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by The wind or breeze (talkcontribs)
Oh yeah, so we shall enter his name in Russian, instead of Tamil, Malayalam or Sindhi, since Ajith is an Aryan from the erstwhile Soviet Union. Now, what shall we do of actors who are of Dravidian ancestry. Should we add their names in Hebrew or ancient Phoenician? We expect more logical reasoning in such discussions. Now, the Wikipedia article on Kerala Iyers and other articles in Wikipedia clearly state that Tamil was the mother tongue of Palakkad Iyers, not Malayalam. And that "Kerala state Iyers cannot be called as Tamil people" is your assertion, and we don't care about individual opinions unless they are based on published sources.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 03:54, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Father

Alright, I've removed the heritage of the father for now since there are apparently conflicting sources, and certainly conflicting opinions. We either need to figure this out, not mention it at all, or mention all plausible ones in the article.
In detail:

I don't know anything about the actor or the cultural differences between these statements. Can someone make an attempt to clear this up? If I understand The Enforcer above correctly, then they can basically all mean the same thing? Based on that it appears to me that Palakkad Iyer is the most precise definition, since it implies that he was a Tamil who settled in Palakkad. This seems to be the common ground of all the above sources, and simplifying that to say that he is a "Tamil" would give the wrong impression. Opinions?
Amalthea 10:10, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, since the only response I got so far is agreement on my talk page, I would add it back as it was: "Ajith Kumar was born as the middle child in Hyderabad, India, to a Palakkad Iyer father and a Sindhi mother from Kolkata."

Protect

Too much abuse and vandalism, I think, this page should be semi-protected as soon as possible, just like Vijay's page has been protected, to make this a stable article, there seems no other way! Johannes003 (talk) 21:50, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Formula BMW Asia

The text says that Kumar was driving in the Formula BMW Asia in 2003 and finished seventh overall, but at Driver Database says that Tohru Jitsukawa finished seventh and Kumar is not in the list. Why? (d) Green Yoshi (c) 12:23, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Rewriting history

Can all editors please stop reverting the article to doctored version of history? The old version emphasises on Ajith's flops and weaknesses and ignores his successes and strengths. This whisper campaign must be stopped to keep sanity.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.225.218.253 (talk)

For a start, "Ajit" does not redirect to this page but rather to a disambiguation. NotAnonymous0 did I err?|Contribs 05:39, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I give up on reverting it back, but I think that this version of the article is too positive. I would welcome a third opinion. NotAnonymous0 did I err?|Contribs 04:01, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

This discussion is so just ridiculous! Please guys, just compare both versions, which one is obviously the more encyclopedian one? Did you dear 220.225.218.253 read the new, cleaned up version even once? Please tell me, is that a doctored article, isn't it truthful? Every single statement in the article has been sourced sufficiently. On the other hand, dear 220.225.218.253, did you notice that your version is throughout positive, yeah even glorifying, fragmentary and very poorly sourced? And hello, what's that wierd filmography list, did you check other filmography lists at wikipedia? You surely have not understand the idea of wikipedia!! The new version is not even written by me, but as a neutral judge, I will definitely support this one. And it isn't that negative anyway, but has better English, is verifiable as reliable sources have been added, and most importantly it is neutral. Welcome to Wikipedia!! You may publish your version on your own fansite, but certainly not here.
And yes, I will continue to revert back! Either we can come to an arrangement here or I'll consider this as vandalism and will have to request the administration to intervene and if needed to protect this site. That may sound harsh, but sorry, there seems to be no alternative. For further objections and suggestions, please contact the editor of the new version! Thank you very much for your understanding. Johannes003 (talk) 12:06, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
220.225.218.253, your continued reverts of this article to an older version are purely disruptive. Your argument that the present version of the article is not positive enough does not carry much weight: Wikipedia's objective is not to become a fan page for the subjects it covers. The only alternative you have offered is repeated massive reverts to an earlier version. This is not constructive.
At this point your best way forward, if you honestly see the current article as a "doctored version of history", is via incremental changes, adding sources and tweaking things one at a time so that each change can be reviewed for whether it represents an improvement over the current state of the article. Continued reversion "en masse" will be viewed as an attempt to assert ownership of the article and avoid the collaborative process. Stop doing it. AtticusX (talk) 11:01, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Good Article

I'm not going to talk about weather this is a good article or not. For me it's seem to be a good article..almost a good article. Wait a second..if it successfully had this criteria:

  • More information at the Personal life section..e.g Kamal Hassan

Editor can add more info too this section as you can see...he have a baby daughter and he bought her a very expensive gift. and Shamelli sis of shalini is a national award winner and richard is a actor, ellaborate on them...and his ambition to be what...he worked earlier as.....what...his attitude of not going to any party even filmfare a the year 2006 where he absent though he won it...his previously dated actress. As you see he is living more than 30 years so he must have that all..so check it in internet.

  • Add more citation to his whatever is missing but it must reliable source....even add for his awards..and also add more award as he has been winning more awards in the pass.please go to Indolink website for this...
  • his career must be more wide...as he act in 49 films..add info bout it..it producer..director..his character his co star and the movies synopsis a bit...and his racing career expand it also as it is a part of his life...plus add more source for that...for this please see Shriya Saran though the article is not a good article but it is on the process...so please check also Genelia D'Souza..Kareena Kapoor...Aishwarya Rai...
  • And pls pls i know he is a big star but don't make his article as a forum or fanclub..

after this all have been applied i know ajith kumar article will succeed to be good article..:)

Ajith prominently works in Tamil Cinema

Actor Ajith, a main actor who mainly based and works in Tamil Cine Industry. Is there can be any second thought on this. So it is obvious and need to mentioned is a "film actor who prominently works in Tamil Cinema. Best reference is take his own Filmography. So, he is also very popular and has a star image in Tamil cinema, media, public etc., This is a neutral view and deserves a mention as it is true/correct fact.
