High school[edit]

I am trying to update high school affiliations for Lehigh Valley people. Did he go to high school in the Lehigh Valley, or Peru? If the Lehigh Valley, which high school? PAWiki 19:40, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Censorship regarding the Gor Novel Cover Art?[edit]

There is no mention of Boris Vallejo's work on the covers of Gor Novels in the 60s and 70s. I believe the last cover Boris Vallejo created was for Volume 7, the Captive of Gor, in 1972. I would like to know why he stopped drawing them. The omission of any mention of Gor in this article is disturbing to me. I wonder if there is some reason for this omission relating to the blacklisting of the Gor books? It has not been proven that the Gor Books were blacklisted, but they were dropped by their publisher. For a long time, John Norman stopped writing the books. The gap in the Gor series came between 1888 and 2001. All the books are now published as both Kindle format books on Amazon and Audible audio books. Audible is an Amazon Company. But, the Boris Vallejo cover art was not used in any of the Gor reprints. At first Amazon used a photo of a women's torso in chains for Captive of Gor, but later on Amazon must of hired someone to draw new, but badly drawn, illustrations for the Gor reprints and the new Gor Novels. I am not editing the article, because I don't have exact information about the details other then my speculation. Perhaps Boris Vallejo and John Norman had a falling out after Captive of Gor? I think a falling out is likely because why would Boris Vallejo deny the use of his art on the reprinted books? Once the art has been created why remove the art? There could any number of reasons, but the topic bears mentioning in the article. But, I can't find any reason with online research. I would like someone more knowledgeable to update this article. Maybe we could say, the reason for the cessation of the Boris Vallejo cover art for the Gor Novels is unknown? Apriv40dj (talk) 12:24, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

From what is says on the [Gor] page, the series had a different publisher from book 8 onwards. This could quite likely be the reason for Vallejo doing only up to book 7. The publisher may very well have had a list of cover artists that it already used.

As for the Vallejo cover's not being used more recently: books will regularly have new covers through its publishing history. Even within several short years. Times and tastes changes. We're talking over 40 years now.

There might have been a falling out. It's not required to explain things though.
