cookbook source -- not sure it's a credible one[edit]

I think this cookbook author is making things up.  :) valereee (talk) 13:39, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, yeah...it's self-published. valereee (talk) 13:41, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Has anyone actually read the Serious Eats article that was added to the lead paragraph?[edit]

Has anyone actually read the Serious Eats article about American Chop Suey, which is about any casserole that includes ground beef and some sort of noodles? The editor (see this diff) that added the reference made the erroneous assumption that all of the dishes that could be classified as American Chop Suey are actually synonyms, but most of those dishes are not that similar. I don't think that a Johnny Marzetti is another name as a Chili mac just as much as a mushroom swiss burger is another name for a chili cheese burger (though the only thing in common with the two sandwiches are that they are both burgers). I don't think that Beefaroni, Goulash, or Macaroni and beef are synonymous with chili mac either. Should chili mac at least contain some sort of "chili" or chili peppers? Should these additions be removed? 107.216.165.224 (talk) 02:41, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think I see what you're saying, 107.216.165.224|107.216.165.224 -- do you mean that while chili mac may be a subset of American Chop Suey, American Chop Suey is not a synonym for Chili Mac? valereee (talk) 10:36, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think that "subset" is a good description for that relationship. A similar analogy would be that all cats and dogs are mammals, but a person cannot correctly infer that "cat" is a synonym for "dog". 96.94.230.14 (talk) 23:26, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the content from the article for the time being (diff). North America1000 01:24, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
