Image[edit]

My point is that he is utterly unrecognizable, other than the uni. In this case, no image is better (IMO) simply because the image does not add to the article about him. It detracts by being a fuzzy picture of a football player who bears a general resemblance to at least three players (off the top of my head). I admit that my objection is purely based on aesthetics, but I don't know of any policy that says we need to include an image when one's available. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 15:16, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There's no policy that says we need to keep the image. However, the risk of Ponder being unrecognizable is of little problem. In fact, you could say the same thing about clearer pictures of people with their head turned or a helmet on. Mistaking him for Mark Sanchez, for example, is utterly impossible on the infobox of the Christian Ponder article, who wears a different number for a different team with a different color scheme. Admittedly, it needs to be replaced with a better free alternative, but it's not so distracting that it will throw editors off as to what or who the article is about Regards, — Moe ε 02:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My crack about Sanchez was just meant to say that if you don't see the uniform, there's no way to tell that it's Ponder--the photo just isn't that good. In fact, we pretty much just have a picture of someone in the Viking's #7 uni. Regardless, thanks for the reply. Best, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 17:04, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, well, like I said, we need a better free alternative. I've been contacting users of Flickr about the copyright status of their images in hopes of convincing them to switch to a free license so I can upload them to the Commons. Flickr only contained this one image (which is a crop from a larger image I found.) Wilson, Luck, Tannehill, etc. need better or more current images. I think I've gotten a better image uploaded and placed into the article now. Regards, — Moe ε 21:32, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Points for clarity, I guess. Thanks for finding that :) Nolelover Talk·Contribs 15:15, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
