Cleanup needed, factual questions remain[edit]

I took a stab at a general cleanup, but don't have any facts to add. This could use another eye. I also question some of the facts, but don't have resources at hand to verify them. One of the sourced ones is that "After General Omar Bradley saw a demonstration, he asked as much as possible tanks to be fitted with this ingenious device." Leaving aside the question of ingenious or not -- what, exactly, did Bradley do? Was this an order? To whom? To do what, exactly -- set a unit to creation and retrofitting of these things?

The second question: There's a reference to the unarmored undersides. I can't find a pattern of armor for the Sherman, but I'm rather skeptical it was completely unarmored. Is underarmored or lightly armored more appropriate? --Thatnewguy (talk) 02:08, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year of death[edit]

Please could someone check the year of his death - the on the photo of his memorial it looks very much as if the year of death is 1965 not 1963.--Toddy1 (talk) 14:51, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are indeed correct; I, too, thought it was 1965 when I first saw the plaque. However, upon (much) closer inspection, it is indeed an imperfect "3" rather than a "5." Moreover, his obituary confirms his death in 1963. Don Columbia (talk) 19:08, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Culin's inspiration[edit]

I've expanded the section on the origin of the hedge-cutter to include the opinion of one historian who claims Culin was inspired by someone else (just noting it here as I guess it may be controversial). EyeSerenetalk 18:08, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
