Untitled[edit]

This article has been wrongly linked to the Labour David Young, MP for Bolton South East from the MPs elected at the UK 1987 general election page. Could this please be re-directed? --Dovea 17:13, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is something wrong in the first paragraph - one does not "train to be a solicitor" at university. I do not know the facts here, so cannot change it, but more likely he read for a degree (possibly Law?) at UCL and then afterwards qualified as a solicitor. If anyone actually knows what degree David read for at UCL could they please correct this mistake. Daryl lloyd 12:35, 17 March 2007 (UTC) Any plans for including Lord Youngs comments "You've never had it so good" ? There are numerous news reports on this as of todays date. Health and safety coverage in press (section Publications)[edit]

The article states that within days of the release of Lord Young's review on health and safety legislation all press stories about health safety ceased. I have raised a citation need as one still reads anecdotal health and safety stories in the press and prosecutions for health and safety breaches are still reported. I think a better description is needed of the effects on press coverage, taking into account the review was five years ago. Cloptonson (talk) 11:26, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Minister without Portfolio - inaccurate claim?[edit]

It says that on 11 September 1984 "it was announced that Young was to enter the cabinet as Minister without Portfolio (the first for twenty years)". However the Minister Without Portfolio article, and indeed the succession box here would indicate that the last holder of the post was Morys Bruce, 4th Baron Aberdare, who was Minister Without Portfolio for about 2 months at the start of 1974, which was just over ten years before Lord Young's appointment. Both were Conservatives so it is not even that he was the first member of his party to hold the office for twenty years so it would seem that this is an error. I have gone ahead and changed this to "it was announced that Young was to enter the cabinet as Minister without Portfolio (the first person to hold the role since Lord Aberdare in 1974)" as this is clearly correct. Dunarc (talk) 21:44, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
