Dress code[edit]

Hi. I just reverted this page on the Devonshire Arms in Camden back to a previous version. I did this because the edits that had been put in were factually incorrect. The Devonshire Arms has a dress code policy which is not enforced in a draconian manner but is in place to keep potential troublemakers out of the venue. The edit I removed was about how anyone carrying an Orville puppet could flout the dress code ruling. While it was mildly humorous, it is factually incorrect. Still a goth pub?[edit]

The Dev AKA The Hobgoblin is now pretty much a punk and biker bar. It's not really a goth venue anymore, there are no strictly goth pubs left in London. If you are looking to go to a goth venue you would be best off going to one of the goth club nights held in several pubs/clubs around London, e.g. Vagabonds, Invocation, Dead & Buried, Reptile etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.19.249 (talk) 17:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article still needs work[edit]

The article was proposed for deletion so I tracked down some references to establish notability. How AMUSING...[edit]

...that this page, originally about the culturally significant Dev in the London Borough of Camden, has been reduced to a dull A-Z of boozers that happen to share the "common" name - with the new author even citing the humdrum Daily Mail in the opening! How depressing.

I recall creating this page some 10+ years back - whilst working in London, some 3,500 miles from present location - and highlighting the notably international clientele that frequented this temple of rock, forming individual cross-border bonds far more significant than treaties. It was a place of peace, and harmony, and a gateway to decadence. And we loved it.

But no, this page has been re-written to become a humdrum catalogue of unremarkable places where old men drink. Rather than simply remaining a shrine to a cherished attractor of interesting types in Camden during its halcyon years, it's now simply a page talking about pubs. It no longer echoes denizens' howls of delight as The Doors urged youngsters to Break On Through To The Other Side, or AC/DC proclaimed It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll). It's simply a catalogue of licensed premises that share the same name. #sad

Write about your boring pubs if you will, but perhaps keep it off the page devoted to a genuine rites-of-passage venue which helped shape the thinking of so many teenagers, including this one.

I think I'll change it back...
