Death[edit]

Don't know where to post this. But for whoever sent me a message, I am from Crazy Dave's Music in Orange Park. Somebody thinks I was spamming the page. I was DELETING the spam, repeatedly for about 5 minutes. NOT the spammer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by George 38 (talkcontribs) 20:37, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Father[edit]

His father was hospitalized for 20 years with an ear infection? Can somebody confirm this and, if this is true, add an explanation? 68.104.189.211 (talk) 20:41, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I added it. It's from the book that I referenced. Check out the book if you don't believe me. The author personally knew the major drivers in Wisconsin at that time, so it should be credible. Royalbroil 01:02, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I read the entire article and found no mention of Trickle's father having an ear infection that hospitalized him for 20 years. On the face of it, it sounds unlikely. I'll remove that reference. Oldsopplaya (talk) 02:16, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Trickle never raced in USAR.[edit]

The site ProCupDigest.com lists every driver who has ever raced in USAR Hooters Pro Cup, and it has no mention of Dick Trickle ever racing in that series, yet this article still lists him as racing in the series and winning 6 races. I tried to edit this info, but a)it turned out crappy because I suck at code and b)the false info was reinserted. http://www.procupdigest.com/driver/driver_complete.php

You did the right thing - discussed it on the talk page! Removing it without saying why is probably why it was undone. I have removed it and cited this discussion as the reason why. I did a web search and didn't come up with a source that disputed what you said. You came up with a reasonably good source. The original content was unsourced. This article gets lots of vandalism and people messing around with it (for obvious reasons), so anonymous editing is watched very carefully. Royalbroil 05:46, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, somewhere in here we will have to add that his son Chris Trickle, a racer in his own right, was killed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.253.149 (talk) 21:29, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chris was his nephew and I added it although it doesn't fit in well. Royalbroil 04:20, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Short track racing[edit]

Please define this. Laymen, myself included, don't know what this means. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.142.235.248 (talk) 07:00, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Which is why Short track motor racing is already linked to in the lede. - The Bushranger One ping only 08:12, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found a link in the contents, it just went to a section in the body of the article on short track racing career, and still did not define it. Also, as a layman, I have no idea what a lede is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.142.235.248 (talk) 17:23, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The "lede" (a somewhat peculiar spelling of "lead", which I'm not sure where it came from but I just follow the herd) is the section of the article above the table of contents; where it says "He raced for decades around the short tracks of Wisconsin,", the link on "short tracks" goes to Short track motor racing which explains it. However, I've also added a link to that in the section you refer to, hopefully that helps. - The Bushranger One ping only 17:47, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just guessing here - but perhaps "lede" is the British spelling for "lead"? — Ched :  ?  05:41, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
