Cleanup[edit]

I'm gonna try to do what I can in the next few weeks to get this article fixed up. It has the potential to be really good, but there's too much unencyclopedic tone, and some parts read more like a collection of recaps of any even slightly notable game. I mean, I think the 60's and 70's sections could be condensed into one short section since the teams weren't really major rivals back then; the Dolphins were still building their team and were pre-Shula in the 60's, and the Jets became an also-ran in the 70's once Namath became injury-prone. But it would great to see this article improved to good or even featured status, and there is definitely a lot to go on in the article currently.--Highway99 06:04, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is Jg772004. I am typing this because I would truly appreciate if no one changes what I have put on this acticle describing the Miami Dolphins-New York Jets rivalry. This is one of my favorite rivalries in sports today. I have kept track of this rivalry for many years even though I am at a very young age. I think it is very important to have a run down of all these great moments and games between these two teams because it truly describes the seriousness, and the competitiveness of this great rivalry. I would love to continue updating this article for years to come, but for now, I really hope that you enjoy what i have put in this article. I am trying to give this article some great substance, and I am trying to remain unbias as I possibly can so I do not favor one side over the other. This rivalry, I believe, is one of the most intense, classic, and dramatic in the entire NFL. There is never a dull moment when it comes to these two teams. I started this article over a year ago, and it has been constantly changed over and over again. I hope everyone can enjoy what I put here and enjoy this great ride between these two rivals because I sure do everytime I read it. If you want to make any suggestions to me on how I can make this better, contact me at jg772004@yahoo.com. Please do not change my article again. This is the only article I have ever done on this site, and I really do find it insulting and disheartning for anyone to change it. I really think I have done a great job in making this article. To the people of Wikipedia who are in charge of this site, if you do change my article again, please contact me and tell me why, because there must be reasons. I will not be upset, I would just like to know. I have followed your guidelines to the best of my ability and I have put a lot of time and effort in trying to make this article work. This is a great rivalry to keep track of, and I would love to keep track of it, and hopefully I am able to do it a little bit my way. I hope you all understand, and please let me know what you all think. Thank you very much, and hope to hear from you all soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jg772004 (talkcontribs) 06:23, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edits and posted the reasons why on your talk page. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one enthusiatic about improving this article, but the text you're adding turns the article into fancruft, which is not what's standard for an encyclopedia.--Highway99 07:54, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope this is a little bit better. I followed a little bit of the format in the way the "Yankees-Red Sox" rivalry page is set up. I revised most of what I typed before and think got rid of all the fancruft. I hope it is pretty good, let me know what you think please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jg772004 (talkcontribs) 03:28, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, the history section shouldn't be changed into a list of memorable games or moments. There's nothing wrong with the format of the section, so you don't need to make a wholesale change to it. Second, if you want to add a memorable games section, don't include half the games ever played between them. In my opinion, I think the only games that should absolutely be included in such a section are the '82 AFC championship, the two games in '86, the Fake Spike, the Monday Night Miracle, and probably the season finale in '91. And if do decide to rewrite some of the statements, don't get rid of the citations appending them. It seems like you just copy and pasted the text on the page, and that inadvertently got rid of the reference links at the end of sentences. Heck, the biggest thing this article is lacking is references, so that should really be one of the top priorities for this article.--Highway99 02:34, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
