Father[edit]

It seems perfectly plausible that Brown was the son of the Rev. Joseph Brown, Baptist minister at Upwell in 1849. This Joseph Brown may also be the follower, with Edmund Larken, of John Minter Morgan.[1] This all bears investigation. Charles Matthews (talk) 14:58, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Venn (BRWN825J) would make the follower of John Minter Morgan an Anglican. But it says "There is considerable confusion among authorities as to the identity of this graduate." Venn is not consistent with s:Dictionary of National Biography, 1912 supplement/Brown, Joseph. The ODNB version of that article does not identify that Joseph Brown with the Queens' graduate, so the issue perhaps is resolved in favour of Venn.

The title page [2] says Queens' (up to place of apostrophe), so that also agrees with Venn.

Checking Crockfords, 1874 does not show a Joseph Brown in Norfolk, so definitely not Anglican. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:52, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
