Rush a synaesthete - I think it's interesting[edit]

According to a 2007 Australian newspaper article, which I have verified, Rush has at least two different types of synaesthesia, coloured days of the week and coloured numbers. The technical term for coloured numbers or letters is grapheme-color synesthesia. See here: http://www.grippers.com.au/grippers-articles/2007/5/20/geoffrey-rush-a-man-for-all-seasons/ Some people believe that synaesthesia is associated with greater levels of creativity. Could someone add this to the article?

Reverted[edit]

I have returned Geoffrey Rush's filmography and external links, after these were deleted by Kellyunderwood. I did this by reverting to last edit by Vulturell, rather than reverting to the last edit by Longhair, as I accidentally listed. Figaro 13:35, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Prudence's edit[edit]

Re this edit:

Non, actuellement. He’s not “the only Australian to win an Oscar”, but “the FIRST Australian-BORN actor to win an acting Oscar”. Peter Finch won for Network in 1976, but he wasn’t born here. Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman won later, but they weren’t born here either. Cate Blanchett was the second acting Oscar-winner after Geoffrey Rush who was born here.

Of the Australians who have won acting awards, none of them have played Australian characters in those performances except Geoffrey Rush. The only other person to win an Oscar playing an Australian character, Linda Hunt, was not herself an Australian. -- JackofOz (talk) 11:17, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up! --DearPrudence (talk) 18:56, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End.JPG[edit]

The image File:Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End.JPG is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe[edit]

I've read a claim that Rush is the only person ever to have won the Triple Crown of Acting (Oscar, Emmy and Tony) plus a Golden Globe (source: "smartarts2010:Theatre", Limelight magazine, January 2010, p. 30).

Is this true? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 11:42, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. See Julie Andrews, Liza Minelli, and also List of persons who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards - there are 10 names there and see List of persons who have won Academy, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards#Three competitive awards. It isn't really such a rarity. Wildhartlivie (talk) 02:08, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Wild. I didn't think it sounded right. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 04:13, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure. I knew it wasn't right but I was a little surprised at how many people fit in that category. Wildhartlivie (talk) 05:07, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, while Rush is one of 21 to have won the "Triple Crown" of acting awards, if you look at the link, 10 others have won those three awards plus a Grammy, which clearly also counts (though its not clear if all the awards were for acting, as opposed to producing) Endos —Preceding undated comment added 15:39, 29 December 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Where is everyone getting this "Triple Crown" stuff from? Any sources for your "Triple Crown?" Follow the Wikipedia link, and you'll discover that "Winning three of the four awards has been called a 3GOT (a play on the term EGOT), with the four combinations referred to as EGO, TOE, GOT, and GET." (No mention of any "Triple Crown," by the way.) Since you can't all be pulling this hoity-toity title out of a hat (can you?), how about some citations, please? Thanks!114.178.195.28 (talk) 11:51, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Who knows who makes this stuff up? In my original post I quoted the source of the claim that's now been debunked. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:06, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is he still the youngest to have won the triple crown? I thought Viola Davis just did so, as of the most recent Oscars. Sailor7sakura (talk) 22:18, 23 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award[edit]

We need consensus on which of the following is preferred:

  1. Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor
  2. Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor
  3. Central Ohio Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor

In my view numbers 1 and 2 are much better than number3. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 05:27, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Recent allegations[edit]

Why is there nothing about the sexual misconduct claim, Rush's denial, or his resignation as President of AACTA? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 10:59, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They're there now, although the entire section was removed by a first-time user a couple of hours ago - I reverted, but suspect the culprit (or another like-minded fool) will do the same again. Chris Keating (talk) 12:38, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Piano[edit]

"Rush had once learned the piano up until aged fourteen but took up piano lessons again thirty years later for the role in order not to require a hand double." He actually played the Bumblebee? With this speed? After a few piano lessons after decades? --JonValkenberg (talk) 21:01, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
