DLC in history section

The only portion referring to a different game is the accompanying announcement of Death Magnetic being available for Guitar Hero 3 as DLC. There's no mention of GH4 material (although DM has apparently been confirmed for release on Guitar Hero 4 as well, though that's only what I've heard).

Not sure why the DM DLC announcement was put in, but seeing that it was included during the game's announcement, I don't see a reason to remove that portion. If someone else does, go for it. 75.54.90.159 (talk) 13:09, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

"While other downloadable content from Guitar Hero III or Guitar Hero World Tour will not be usable in Guitar Hero: Metallica, the game will detect and incorporate the songs from the Death Magnetic downloadable content into the game's setlist." Any source on this? People who are considering buying a current Guitar Hero game would be interested to know whether they can hold off for GH:M and get all of Death Magnetic on it without buying a current GH game.

I haven't seen any information (probably too soon, or maybe it is just expected to be the case) but I'd find it hard to believe that instrument compat will not be there, save for the RB drums and the "Expert Plus" mode. --MASEM 14:54, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Partially Erased Setlist

A while back (last day or so) someone had renamed a few songs to fake ones, and another editor just outright removed them instead of reverting the change. I've fixed that. --MASEM 06:00, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Release Date

It has been confirmed on IGN.com and at CES that the release date for this game is March 29, 2009. Why is it that every time I change it to read the proper release date it gets changed back to Q1 2009? March 29th is the release date until specified otherwise. The source that is sited for the release date is 5 months old now as well... I even sited IGN's Guitar Hero Metallica page where it explicitly says that the 29th is the release date but it STILL got changed back. I don't see any news report out of CES that confirms a date, only that it was shown. Both IGN and 1up have different dates and no source for them. Given that they may be using the most reasonable dates of "by March 2009" --MASEM 06:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I'd have to say that both Gamespot and IGN are a more reputable source than 1up and both have the release date set as March 29, 2009. Both have journalists in attendance at CES this year and IGN rarely puts up a release date that is merely the subject of rumors or skepticism. Though that is more of just a personal taste. Well yesterday I went on to my facebook page, in which i am a fan of metallica, and they sent an announcement out over facebook saying the release date of Guitar Hero Metallica was March 29.....for those curious, this is what the message reads: Remember that "first half of 2009" stuff? Well, we actually have a real date for you now for the all 'Tallica Guitar Hero game . . . March 29 in North America for Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3, with our friends outside of North America seeing the game in early May. Nintendo Wii and PS2 will follow later in the Spring, also most likely in early May.

In case you missed the December news story, Guitar Hero Metallica allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes in your choice of some famous settings or new venues with in the round staging. Included are 28 Metallica songs along with a few from some of our favs like Alice in Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head and Queen. There is also an all new Expert+ difficulty setting featuring two bass drum kick pedals (!!!) along with all the gameplay modes from Guitar Hero World Tour.

New multiplayer interface

There is also now a rock meter on each players chart in multiplayer so you now know who is failing in multiplayer. Source[1]

This was already in GH:WT. The "band" rock meter was calculated by an average of all players, but each player had their own rock meter displayer using a bar graph underneath the band rock meter. Three new songs I added were removed

I added Am I Evil?, Whiplash, and Mommy's Little Monster but they all were removed, along with the provided link. Anyone got an explanation?--Unknownsage13 (talk) 01:31, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

The article [2] states this (quoting the ESRB): Rating summary: This is a music and rhythm simulation game featuring the heavy metal band Metallica. Players can perform songs using on-screen avatars with various instruments. Players simulate playing guitar, bass, or drums and are scored based on the accuracy of notes hit. Some song lyrics contain expletives (e.g., “damn,” “bastard,” and “b*tch”) and sexual references (e.g., “Mommy’s little monster had sex at 15″ and “sweet and timely whore, take me home”). Some song lyrics also make references to violence (e.g., “We’re gathered here to maim and kill” and “I got a gunsight trained on you”). Some of the players’ outfits are low-cut and revealing, while tattoo designs depict women in provocative poses and clothing (e.g., a fantastical succubus with cleavage and panties). This not specifically list songs but instead we have to infer what those songs are from the given lyrics. Yes 99.9% those are the songs, but there is no clear statement those songs are listed, thus it's original research to make that connection. On GameInformer, they report that there are 45 songs from Metallica, and 21 from other bands. One of the articles referenced also states this. Slayer Controversy

Should this be mentioned

If the songs are listed here and listed in their respective other games they've been in I don't really see the point. If you want to get into technicalities, you could say the first song to appear twice is Carry On Wayward Son in Guitar Hero II and Rock Band 2 since Harmonix made both of those games. Wii release date

The "Other Buddy"

Aside from Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead being a playable character, Metallica's webpage states that aside from Lemmy, "(They)convinced another buddy to join in the fun that is Guitar Hero..." (http://metallica.com/index.asp?item=601924. It will likely be Bob Seger considering the track is from a live performance, and this would truly capture the live experience. Also, Bob Seger has been highly involved with Guitar Hero, especially with the commercials. Finally, Bob Seger released a DLC pack to get some of his songs out of the way. If he is indeed the second character, as proven with other motion-captured artists, he will likely be done with Guitar Hero. Riffrider (talk) 18:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Grammatical Correction

In the "Soundtrack" section, in the first paragraph, there is a grammatical error (repetition). It is currently: "All of the Metallica songs in the game are from original masters, though locating some masters proved troublesome to locate." It should be something like: "All of the Metallica songs in the game are from original masters, though some of the masters proved troublesome to locate." Lynyrd Skynyrd typo

On the original cover of Guitar Hero: Metallica, the band "Lynyrd Skynyrd" was incorrectly spelled, as noted by Rolling Stone, next to the "Hero". It was spelt "Lynyrd Skynrd". King Diamond

I know he is pretty much confirmed, but there isn't an official source as of right now. Linking to a site that has the trophy list from the PS3 version of the game isn't a verifiable source. DJKingpin (talk) 01:55, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

To Masem: I agree that ScoreHero is a good source, but there isn't a source there. They just mention King Diamond being in a trophy list on a different site. How do we even know if it's true at this point? This was found close to a week ago and nothing has been confirmed, so who knows when it will be announced? If there were any plans to release a bundled version, then a special announcement would have been made if they were only available through such outlets as online retailers, or (if they were available everywhere) then there would be bundles in stores nationwide. Further, someone would have already found information regarding it, what it would contain that would set it apart from the standalone game. When I bought my copy yesterday, I saw no bundles ANYWHERE in the store (I went to Target), and if there were any produced, they would have been all over that section. Instead, they still had bundles for Aerosmith. Thus I feel disinclined to regard those sources, as it appears that, should there be one, it is only available outside North America (The one that shows an actual bundle design is from the Australian EBGames site), or it simply comes with the exact same guitar (with no special faceplate or anything else) from World Tour as offered through RedOctane's site. If such a bundled package as described in the latter link were produced, then the search I ran on Google (AFTER the game was released) would have turned up at least one article that proclaimed such a release. (Instead all I got were forum posts hoping for the bundle). I think that themed faceplates is as far as they will go - even if Target had to clear out older inventory to put it there, as it was clearly a big occasion. Release date - Australia

Input methods.
