Prose/MoS

Gameplay
  • There's one instance of Guitar Hero: Metallica that may need to be italicized (the bit about the drumsticks).
Development
  • "There are no plans to release a bundled version of Guitar Hero: Metallica with the instrument controllers..." - There are no plans, or no plans have been announced?
  • Lars Ulrich is wikilinked twice in this section. Kirk Hammett is wikilinked once here and once in Soundtrack, as is King Diamond.
Promotion
  • The bit about the Lynyrd Skynyrd faux pas is good, but can it be condensed somewhere, so it's not such a short paragraph?
Soundtrack
  • "Guitar Hero: Metallica features 49 songs, 28 being by Metallica, and the other 21 songs being bands that are "their personal favorites and influences from over the years", including those that appeared on their Garage Inc. album." - The instances of "being" are a little awkward. The first one isn't necessary, and the second could be "are from".
  • "Metallica selected songs from their catalog that "pretty evenly represent all the different phases of Metallica"." - Metallica is a little redundant here, could the first one be replaced with "The band"?
Reception
  • "Guitar Hero: Metallica has received favorable reviews from game critics, and has been considered as the best Guitar Hero game in the series since Neversoft took over development of the game." - "As" probably isn't necessary here. Also, "described" may be better than "considered", especially because only one reference is provided that mentioned it as such. "Game" is a little redundant, consider replacing the second one with "franchise".

Sources

  • Is Blabbermouth.net a reliable source?
  • It won't stop the article here, but any future FAC might get hung up on the Joystiq and Kotaku references. If they were interviews it would be fine, but as it's just news it may be better to find references from other sites like GameSpot or IGN, because they all generally publish the same news items.

Focused

  • The lead infobox says it, and there's a see also link for other Guitar Hero games, but the Gameplay section doesn't say explicitly that the game is intended to be played with instrument controllers, or that players must match the buttons pressed on the controllers to scrolling icons on the screen. In fact, a lot of the section is made up of comparisons to other Guitar Hero games—that's fine, but non-gaming readers should be able to know how Metallica is played after reading this section alone.

Images

  • This is just a nitpick, but maybe the box shot could have a caption that indicates whether the image is pre- or post-misspelling.

Overall this is an excellently written article. I'm placing it on hold until the above issues are addressed. As you finish each one, put a "Done" notice under it or an appropriate explanation if you don't think it needs to be changed. It will be on hold for seven days or until all issues have been addressed. Good job! — Levi van Tine (tc) 08:50, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done for all of them. I believe Blabbermouth.net is reasonably reliable though I've replaced one of their links that was easy to do, the other two are a bit more difficult (I can find news of the NASCAR brand post-race, but looking for a better pre-race source, and the King Diamond statements are only located there). --MASEM (t) 14:41, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good! — Levi van Tine (tc) 05:37, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't anyone else have a problem with "critics stating" and "reviewers noted" without citations in the opener? I've already edited this and got immediately reverted. I'm still relatively new, but WP:Avoid weasel words. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingdomcarts (talkcontribs) 00:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New World Record Song[edit]

There is a new world record for Guiness with the song Mercyful Fate, once again with the record set by Daniel Johnson. He achieves a 100% on the song. Ign has an video up here (http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14257538/guitar-hero-metallica/videos/GH_record_061109.html) --Stanmarsh2003 (talk) 22:36, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
