Hampstead as North End of London[edit]

I have deleted the statement that Hampstead is traditionally the North End of London. This is erroneous as until the second half of the 19th century Hampstead was a distinctly separated village north of the capital. The local area named "North End" gets its name as a consequence of it being at the northern edge of the Hampstead Heath. 18th and 19th century maps of Hampstead and the surrounding areas as also having places named "East End" (see East End Road in Finchley), "South End" (see South End Road near Hampstead Heath station) and "West End" (see West End Lane in West Hampstead). Deepest Station ?[edit]

I have deleted the unreferenced claim that Hampstead tube station is listed in the Guiness Book of Records as being the deepest below sea level. The surface buildings are at approx 110m AMSL and the platforms are said to be 58.5m below that. I haven't checked, but I doubt that a station 50m above sea level is going to be the lowest.
