Transphobia Allegations[edit]

There should be a section/subsection added regarding Zimmer's alleged transphobic business conduct. MisfitBlitz (talk) 01:48, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No there shouldn't unless it is covered by reliable sources.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:05, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Interstellar Work[edit]

Is there a reason that Zimmer's work on interstellar hasn't been added? Ethh3rr (talk) 15:32, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ethh3rr: I do not understand what you mean. One only needs to search the article for Interstellar to see that it is mentioned several times throughout the article. Peaceray (talk) 16:05, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Interstellar (soundtrack) has an entire article, because it isn't possible to go into detail about all of his scores here. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the score for Interstellar is that Zimmer described it (with a bit of qualification) as his favourite film score in a TikTok video posted in December 2022.[1][2] This is something that could be added here.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:15, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dual nationality (US and Germany)[edit]

There are some articles that mention Zimmer has dual nationality (American and German). For example in the French article of Le Point (2016), he's described as "the most Hollywood of European composers, but don't tell him that he is American, despite his naturalization. Zimmer said: "When I talk about music, I undoubtedly have a German accent" Universal Music France mentions after the movie Rain Man (1989) he settled in California and became a naturalized American. -Artanisen (talk) 04:26, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is sort of true. Rain Man was his first Hollywood film, but the Universal Music France source doesn't say that he became a naturalized US citizen immediately after the film. It says "depuis" which simply means "since then".--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:53, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Re this edit: it comes down to the French language source here. It says "installé en Californie et naturalisé américain" "settled in California and naturalized American" but I'm not 100% sure that this confirms that he holds US citizenship. Maybe it means that he has been based in the USA for a long time, which is true. Overall I don't think that this source is blue chip for saying that Zimmer holds US citizenship.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:10, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ghost composers[edit]

There are a lot of news articles about Hans Zimmer hiring ghost composers for much of the work he's credited for. I don't think it's right to say he composed all these film scores. 204.78.14.9 (talk) 18:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a WP:SOFIXIT situation. Simply disputing something without sourcing means very little. The wording of the lead section could be modified if necessary. Media profiles of Hans Zimmer often say that he has composed the music for over 150 films, when it is more accurate to say that he has been involved in composing and producing the music for over 150 films. Some of these are co-composer and producer credits, as Zimmer likes to work this way. Like many film score composers, Zimmer often uses additional composers and these usually appear in small text in the end credits. It is more of a WP:BLP issue to say that he deliberately takes credit for the work of other composers, and this would require very good sourcing, not blogs and forums where people often say this sort of thing about Zimmer's work. There was a specific controversy over the score for The Dark Knight as it credited many composers. Zimmer's scores are rarely the work of one person, but this is usually made clear.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 19:25, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Zimmer's date of birth[edit]

Re this edit: There are many sources on the web saying that Zimmer's date of birth is 12 September 1957, but none of them seems to be blue chip. It is one of those things that appears in every biographical article of Zimmer, but the sourcing should be of good quality to meet WP:V requirements. ♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:28, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
