Unusual Grant From The Federal Government[edit]

In the 1970s, there was a federal grant to the town which became infamous. More later. Chris 05:19, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The suspense is killing me.--Paul McDonald (talk) 02:38, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think that Chris may be talking about a grant that I would call more groundbreaking than infamous. About 1975 the college needed more dorm space. Somebody read the federal housing program rules and saw that there was no restriction on colleges applying for a grant for dorms on college campuses. Before this the grants were for apartments, but no college had ever applied for dorms which, when you think about it, are simply apartment buildings on college property. The college applied and, to their surprise, became the first college to get a federal grant to build a dorm (Ellis Hall) under that particular federal housing program.~~
