Islam & Terrorism[edit]

I removed the referring sentence on Islamic terrorism from the article.

When in a two-sentence article on a religion, one sentence is about terrorism, to much weight is given to terrorism. --LucVerhelst 14:51, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Last Paragraph[edit]

Something needs to be done with the poll reference in the last paragraph. "44% of Muslims practice Islam" makes no sense. Misterdoe 05:17, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that sentence. The original article says "among other faiths [ie, non Catholics], 44% are practicing". This doesn't say anything specific about Muslims.

"fundamentalist Islamists"[edit]

I wonder if it's really necessary to put "fundamentalist" in front of "Islamists". Are there actually any Islamists that aren't fundamentalist? are even any Muslims who aren't fundamentalist? Saying "fundamentalist Islamist" is about as redundant as saying "fundamentalist Islamist Muslim".Anon12356 (talk) 23:26, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"are even any Muslims who aren't fundamentalist?" Yes, many in fact. In Lebanon most are not fundamentalist. Most aren't in most of the Levant region. There are many secular Muslims in the US who are peaceful normal people, and normal Americans. 108.208.70.47 (talk) 21:35, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

" are even any Muslims who aren't fundamentalist?" Of course there are. Keep your eyes open. Even if you believe one cannot be a moderate Muslim, this is your opinion and has no place in this article. We like to ignore the actions of christian fundamentalists, such as Breivik. when Breivik kills over a hundred people, he's a lunatic. When a muslim shoots 17 people in Toulouse he's obviously a terrorist. This double standard is hypocritical at best.

Denominations section[edit]

@LucVerhelst: Sunni - The source mentions nothing about Sunnis. Moroccans and Turks are mentioned in the Population section. Ahmadiyya - Uses a self-published source [1]. Shia - Again mentioned in Population section and using one incident as the basis for a general statement is WP:SYNTH. You are correct on Issues - I deleted that by accident. --NeilN talk to me 13:40, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're right that the references aren't good. But the information about denominations is relevant, and it belongs on this page. That's why I put up the box.--LucVerhelst (talk) 15:00, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@LucVerhelst: If you want the info to stay in there, then it's up to you to provide proper references. WP:V and all that. --NeilN talk to me 16:41, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No it is not. Do you have a problem with the presentation of the different islam denominations? I don't see what's POV about simple facts. That said, the quality of the section as it is is poor, it should definitely be improved. --LucVerhelst (talk) 11:39, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you read WP:BURDEN. If you want these "facts" re-added, please provide proper sources. --NeilN talk to me 13:40, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Headscarf[edit]

The headscarf section should probably be updated with sources like this. I will take a stab at it if no one beats me to it. --NeilN talk to me 14:37, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
