Being bold...[edit]

I have followed through with the changes I prescribed. The Overview section has been returned to its previous form, the formatting glitches and minor errors in other parts have been removed, and the former Overview section has been polished and moved to a new 'Plot' section. Help![edit]

For some reason, when I try to open the door with 100 power cells, the screen goes all white, they say ooh and ah, then the credits appear. What's going on?

That's just what happens! It's a cliffhanger ending; since nobody knew what Jak II would be like, they left it up to the player's imagination.

Cleanup[edit]

This article is in desperate need of a proper cleanup and I've done a fair amount. I've added reception and development sections plus a few references. I'm not liking the gameplay section at all, I'll work on it but I'm giving someone else the chance if they want to. It's mostly just lists and a lot of the information is contained in other main articles. All that is needed is a brief overview of the gameplay, the way it plays etc. Moved the section around as well so it flows more.

To do:

  • More references
  • Middle paragraph of story is a little large, could probably be split into 2
  • Sort out the gameplay section (Urgent)
  • Expand LS
  • Expand Reception
  • Screenshots

Probably a bit more that could be done but I'll leave it at that for now. I'll be working on this as well so please comment.

Characters section[edit]

This needs extreme pruning. We don't need whole paragraphs on every NPC in the game. In fact, most don't even need to be mentioned. This is Wikipedia, not a fansite.--Drat (Talk) 01:24, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I put Jaks age in and I got it from the game Jak X. You can find the age of some of the characters where you play multiplayer. You can play as Jak from the first, second third and the Jak X game and it said his age. His ages is 15, 17, 18 and 19 Joshuarembrandt (Talk) 14:24, 06 February 2009

Got it. Here's an example of a citation for a game, taken from the article on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (a featured article).

White Eco[edit]

People, it's called White Eco in TPL. The term Light Eco only came into use during Jak 3. Please stop changing it. RedZionX (talk) 22:09, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could've sworn they said Light Eco, but I think you're right. I vaguely recall ND (or someone who asked ND, in which case they might have been lying) saying that it was a mistake (and thus it should be Light Eco in TPL). WP:VG assessment[edit]

Alright, I'm seeing some good work here, so I'm bumping the class up to B. Some pointers for further improvement:

  • Make sure the lead section effectively summarises the information. See WP:LS for an overview, and the last VG newletter gives you a more specific run down of how to approach this in relation to game articles. -- Sabre (talk) 12:42, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The structure needs reorganising. Structure it like this:
    • Gameplay
    • Synopsis/Story (take your pick to what you call it)
      • Setting
      • Characters
      • Plot
    • Development
    • Reception
    • References
    • External links
  • I fear that there's too much detail on this Eco stuff. Try to cut it back. You don't need to go into too much detail, just an overview. If possible, incorporate it fully into the gameplay section and get rid of the subsection.
  • For the setting section, try to summarise the basics of the plot: backstory, brief location details and so on should go there. The {{main}} template should also be at the top of the section, not the bottom.
  • You don't need the subsections for the characters. Remove them and just make sure the paragraphs flow into each other.
  • The reception section could use some work. Rather than taking specific reviews, read through them and pick out common themes to discuss. For example, take a look at how Halo 2#Critical response does it. I'd personally move the sales paragraph above the reviews as well. As for the template, its far too large and unweildy. Ditch it and replace it with {{VG Reviews}}, which will allow you to do exactly the same stuff, but remain tidy and consistent with other video game articles. And if the game didn't come first place, it didn't get the award, so remove that from the template and just make reference to it in the prose.
  • Make sure you reference as much as possible, including the plot and gameplay sections. You can use primary sources for those two, so you can quote directly from the game in conjunction with using {{cite video game}}. Gameplay information can be referenced to reviews, previews, the game manual, etc.

Page move[edit]

Why was this page moved from Jak and Daxter to Jak & Daxter? The box art clearly displays "and" in the title. --Mika1h (talk) 20:07, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't make any sense to me as you can clearly see no ampersand anywhere on the boxart or any official website. Ratchet 957, Ratchet & Clank Fan 08, and Moon Star X1 have all tried to change it as such. Sarujo (talk) 01:25, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where ever the logo appears it's clearly uses AND. The official site and the Naughty Dog Site BUT on the home page of the Naughty Dog Site, in the top right it does use an ampersand. Gamespot, IGN etc etc use AND as well. As you probably guessed, I'm in favour or the AND over the ampersand.

The & seems to have been removed from the Naughty Dog home page, so you may want to cross that one off. Also, the Jak and Daxter wiki wouldn't be reliable even if it was consistent. It's not an official Naughty Dog website; it's a wiki that's primarily edited by fans of the series, not neccessarily Naughty Dog employees. It's been a while since I played the game, but if memory serves, you need to hit it with a fireball. However, this is the wrong place to be asking these kinds of questions. The Lost Frontier[edit]

This article and Jak 3 both claim that Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is coming out this December, and that we should be rejoicing in the streets. However, no one has bothered to provide a source for this, which is particularly bad in this case. The series article still lists the game as "uncertain," and rumors about this game have ben circulating since the name was copyrighted. Could someone please provide a source for these soon? I don't want to delete it, but I'll have to if it looks like original research.

Racing/Vehicle Segments[edit]

Considering how the game utilizes a racing segment between each of the worlds, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the gameplay section. There are also a couple of sections that revolve on using vehicles to get around. Personally I didn't care much for them, and was wondering if anyone had criticized the game for them, but not this article doesn't even speak of them in general.--68.6.182.39 (talk) 10:42, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is actually briefly mentioned in a few different parts. It isn't very substantial, but it is there, noting that Jak uses Keira's zoomer to traverse certain valleys and tunnels, and has to collect the power cells to upgrade it. Blake (Talk·Edits) 15:36, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
