He made the Cowboys the 2nd best offense?[edit]

As currently written, article states "His influence made the Cowboys the 2nd best offense in the NFL." This statement borders on hagiography. It is true that the Cowboys were the league's 2nd highest scoring offense in 2007, Garrett's first year as offensive coordinator. Omitted is the fact that the Cowboy's were the league's 4th highest scoring offense in 2006, the year before Garrett got there. They sent 26yo QB Tony Romo to the Pro Bowl in his first year as a starter, and 24yo TE Jason Witten to the Pro Bowl. Receiver Terrell Owens caught 13 TD passes. Julius Jones and Marion Barber combined for over 1700 yards rushing. The Cowboys were already a prolific, explosive offense before Garrett arrived. Did his influence make the Cowboys the 2nd best offense? Or were they already poised to become that, with continued development from Romo & Witten, and another good year from Owens & Barber & Jones? Was Garrett's influence less strongly felt in his second year, 2008, when the Cowboys fell to having the league's 18th highest scoring offense? (All info from Pro Football Reference .com) Suggest this sentence be re-written so as not to imply cause & effect. In the Carrer History section of the article Jason Garret has been credited with two Super Bowl rings as a coach.
