How long Jessica dated John Maher-

OMG.. this just in: On Oprah, Jessica said she dated John Maher "on and off for two years".

http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/03/jessica.simpson.oprah/?hpt=T2

This seems to contradict what the current article states! Oh, the scandal...

"Following her divorce, Simpson had an off-and-on relationship with musician John Mayer. Dating rumors started in August 2006 with a People magazine article, but kicked into high gear when Simpson and Mayer spent New Year's holiday together in New York City, both attending Christina Aguilera's New Year's Eve 2006 party.[61] The couple eventually parted ways for good in May 2007.[62]" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emeraldflames (talkcontribs) 18:40, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

I think the Music career and the acting career should be together in segments of years, like the Hilary Duff article, this is because much of what is going on in her career ties in for example when in this skin was released it had the Newlyweds running at the same time which made it successful —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.96.113 (talk) 17:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Adam Green song

I was a bit surprised not reading any mention of the 2003 Adam Green song "Jessica" in which Jessica Simpson is repeatedly mentioned. It may not be that well known, however. In that case I would agree it is probably irrelevant. It is pretty well known here in Germany, though, and apart from that I have never heard anything about Jessica Simpson . What do others think? Is the song worth a mention? Clickclickdecker (talk) 20:51, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Lets get this article to Featured status

What can we do to improve this article and get it the "star" that denotes Feature status? I feel like the opening could be revised to be shorter, yet more informative about Jessica as a person. Currently, it focuses a lot on her music. The headings could be used to structure the article and discuss in greater detail the seperate areas of Jessica's career and life. The opening should touch on those items only briefly. What do you think? Rl girl67 (talk) 02:38, 9 November 2010 (UTC) Rl girl67

My suggestion for the opening would be something like this:

Jessica Ann Simpson (born July 10, 1980) is an American singer, actress, television personality, and fashion designer whose rise to fame began in 1999. Since that time, Simpson has achieved many recording milestones, starred in several television shows, movies, and commercials, launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes, and handbags for women. She has devoted time to philanthropic efforts including Operation Smile and a USO-hosted tour for troops stationed overseas.

If a change like this were made, I would then suggest that the specific details currently mentioned in the opening be moved to the approriate headings further down. Rl girl67 (talk) 03:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC) Rl girl67

Good. We should promote this to FA. I have worked on Jess's discography and its a FA now. Now, we have to clear this too. Don't forget the albums and singles. Novice7 Talk 06:15, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

I second that Rl girl67

I agree with you about the lead, that is only the beginning though. I would like to see her top singles added to the page and a section about her famous quotes. There is a website with all of her famous quotes that some of us ditzy girls can relate to! HazMadHazMad (talk) 03:48, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, you can add details about singles, but no quotes. Thank you. Novice7 | Talk 14:33, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Famous Quotes

Previously unknown to some, Simpson made a name for herself during her Newlyweds days by showing her quirky side. Her now famous quotes helped make her a household name. People became familiar with Simpson's ditzy, yet relateable, personality. Her most famous quote is, “Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken of the Sea". Even those who didn't watch the show became familiar with that quote through it's repeated playback on entertainment newscasts and YouTube. Another famous quote stemming from Newlyweds was “I have to go... drop some kids in the pool.” Fans learned quickly that Simpson was like all of them. Typo

I can't edit the article but there is a typo in the first paragraph.

Edit request

As I'm being discriminated against by the Wikipedia (being an unregistered user) and consequently can not edit the page, I'd like to ask for linking the Chicken_of_the_Sea#Popular_references to the mention in the Criticism and controversy section. Thanks. 87.249.145.69 (talk) 21:12, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

The article is semi-protected due to persistent vandalism by bored schoolkids. It's a basic protective mechanism that's common for pages about living people, where vandalism could do real harm. Anyway, I've implemented your suggested edit as it helpfully clarifies an otherwise cryptic comment. Done. Thanks, Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 01:39, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

PETA criticism legitimate?

Should the PETA criticism of Jessica even be listed? Most people don't see eating meat as "controversial," and PETA is a fringe organization.67.188.208.139 (talk) 18:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

The whole article needs a cleanup. IMO the section isn't even necessary. It can easily be merged with the timeline. I'll get to it soon. Thanks for pointing it out. Novice7 (talk) 04:02, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Under the Relationship Section, it says: "On October 19, 2011 Simpson confirmed to OK! that she is pregnant with their first child."

However this has not been confirmed by Jessica Simpson, Eric Johnson, or anyone else in her family. These claims have only come from tabloid reports, but Jessica Simpson herself has not confirmed anything as of yet! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.26.196.113 (talk) 20:33, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Makover

I'd really like to makeover this page! It's a decent page, but obviously not in the best condition. The last article I edited, however, led to some issues with another Wiki user, who felt the article didn't need fixed. Therefore, I'm posting on here before making edits to see if anyone objects. If nobody has asked me to leave the page alone, then I will begin editing tomorrow. Thank you! Sethjohnson95 Talk 02:38, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Jessica Simpson

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Jessica Simpson's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Texas

Her parents don't actually live in Texas anymore. As cited on her sister's page, the family basically picked up in 1999. Each of them relocated to Los Angeles now. Spelling Style (talk) 23:12, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

why no personal life section?

don't these articles usually have a "personal life" section so all the info about marriage, divorce, kids is in one place? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.160.64.109 (talk) 17:23, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

She used to have one, but most content was biased or irrelevant (ex. just discussed her past relationships, appearances in tabloid magazines, political views, and "slams" on new GFs). You're free to see that if you look in the past versions of this page. ToriJana (talk) 22:15, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Continue to redirect Joe Simpson here?

The article "Joe Simpson (manager)" has been redirected to the "management" section of this article, which does not exist. Should Joe be redirected here at all? If so, which section should by targeted by the redirect link? Thanks, Aristophanes68 (talk) 17:11, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
