August 2007[edit]

when the dust settles after Washington, the paragraph about it should be rewritten and slimmed down. I added details after each of his first three wins there, but the win over Haas and making the semis eclipses everything else about it, except for the fact that he had to win 3rd set tiebreaks 4 straight days to get there. Definitely the Wayne Odesnik mention can be dropped. If he didn't beat Haas in the quarters, it would be relevant. I would also get rid of "the biggest win of his career" for now, also. He's been a pro for a month. Every win has pretty much been his biggest win, although after his first round win over Henman, he said that was his second greatest tennis moment, behind winning the NCAA team title in May. ok, as noted above, i rewrote the Washington paragraph, now that it is over. editors had just piled on details successively with not enough attention to what was written previously (e.g., all 5 wins were described in detail as 3rd set tiebreaks, then another sentence was added to say all 5 wins were 3rd set tiebreaks). i got rid of all scores but the final, and just listed his victims all at once in a list, instead of a separate sentence for each. and since Isner should not have even been there but for Gonzalez's late withdrawal freeing up the wild card, I added a reference to that fact as well. Worth Noting?[edit]

Do you think it is worth noting that the set he won against Federer was the first set that Federer lost in the open? John isner said after a match Laillaha illallahu Muhammadur rasoulala — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.47.132.135 (talk) 07:27, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

{{editsemiprotected}} Please update to mirror Nicolas Mahut's entry: He is currently playing in the longest match in ATP history against Nicolas Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships that spanned from 22–24 June, 2010, beating the previous records for the longest match in terms of both time and games in Wimbledon and tennis history.

The page contains the following information: "The match will be resumed on 24 June, tentatively at 0900 (GMT), starting the third day of the match."

This is inaccurate. According to the wimbledon.org website, the match will resume sometime AFTER 15:30 (GMT).

RG[edit]

Could anybody add in the 2011 section that he participated in Roland Garros? I think it's worth mentioning that he almost defeated Nadal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvermist01 (talkcontribs) 11:33, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Markespeland, 5 June 2011[edit]

In the '2011' section, it says "Isner defeated Hasse 3-7 7-6(4) 7-5[27]..." (note the 27 is the reference). The score of the first set was 3-6 (obviously), and the referenced link confirms it.

French Open 2011[edit]

This needs to be added, I don't know why the article is protected but someone must surely be able to add the new information. He took Nadal to five sets at the French Open after a poor season and this isn't considered worthy of inclusion on his Wikipedia page, pathetic. Rectify this immediately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OhBee1 (talkcontribs) 13:22, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide a reliable source I can look at, and maybe a sentence or two you want added? I'm not much of a content writer, but I'll be happy to add something for you if it's within policy. — Bility (talk) 20:32, 10 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/13527883.stm for the match report. For the sentence, how about:

"At the 2011 French Open, Isner was drawn against no. 1 seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal. Isner took what was considered a surprise two-sets-to-one lead against Nadal - who had never played a five set match at Roland Garros and had only been defeated once there in the previous six years - before he was eventually defeated 6-4 6-7 (2-7) 6-7 (2-7) 6-2 6-4. Nadal went on to win the title."
