Rumoured Titles[edit]

I'm going to remove those, as rumours don't really have a place here. Xubelox 23:24, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NGAMER[edit]

Is it worth pointing out that british magazine NGAMER have said that Retro Studios (who are currently finishing off the Metroid Prime Trilogy) are rumoured to be resurrecting the Kid Icarus series once they finish Metroid Prime 3? (To find the article exactly, it's NGAMER - Issue #13 - Page 009, under the title Retro Return).

If it's true, heck yeah! 172.129.230.217 22:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

Why the name Kid Icarus anyway? Does the character have any relation to Icarus besides having wings? its call that for the ancient greek icarus —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dazuro (talkcontribs)

The greco-roman theme.

The whole game is gothic-ancient greece-esque. The final boss is medusa, though none of the "greek" monsters look anything familiar.

Why is this here?[edit]

There are only 2 games, I hardly call that a series! Claycrow 14:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, all of the pages about Kid Icarus should be fused. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.207.77.245 (talk) 04:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, but I'm not signed :-P —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.23.91.242 (talk) 23:53, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia was created to be a source of information for all who want it. To fuse or delete articles that give information is counterintuitive (unless it is something utterly pointless). It shouldn't be fused.

I'm not certain, but I am pretty sure that there is a little known kid icarus for the wii (not Virtual Console). The articles should clearly not be merged, but both articles must be patched. EDIT: looking down the page, it has been confirmed that kid icarus is on wii. The articles must NOT be murged.

Fair use rationale for Image:Kidicaruslogo.gif[edit]

Image:Kidicaruslogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Wii?[edit]

I was watching X-Play today and the Gaming Update ticker at the bottom of the screen said that the official E3 website leaked a new Kid Icarus game (along with Half Life: Episode 3, but that's not important right now). My computer sucks so I can't confirm this nor do I find any other sites that say the same. Could somebody please check for me? Zabbethx (talk) 17:37, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It says that it has moved from dream to reality so yes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.151.58.133 (talk) 12:08, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The August Edition of Nintendo Power[edit]

Has anyone read it recently? Check out pages 46 - 47. It's an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto. Most of it talks about the new Mario games and a bit about the upcoming Zelda title. But, at the very end of the article, the interviewer asks him about a new Kid Icarus game. Miyamoto replied, "Wait, please. I'm really surprised how popular that is. But you are the first person to ask at this E3!" What do you think? Sounds a lot like a confirmation to me. And there's more: The last page of NP mentions that "not every cat was let out of the bag at E3" and will be mentioned in the next issue. Something tells me that we'll be hearing of that long-awaited new game pretty soon. 24.15.161.255 (talk) 16:26, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the series dissapearance[edit]

Should there be some information why Nintendo didn't make any Kid Icarus games for the Super Nintendo or Nintendo 64 consoles? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.231.4.140 (talk) 08:02, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Only if definate, verifiable information exists, there cannot just be speculation as to why there were no games on the SNES or N64. AirRaidPatrol 84 (talk) 12:03, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Undoing Redirect[edit]

Now that Kid Icarus has a third installment, I believe it is a big enough franchise to warrant a series page and am undoing the redirect from this link away from the Kid Icarus video game. I will work on the article tonight; any assistance would be appreciated. Any objections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Juan7077 (talkcontribs) 06:06, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I object, on the grounds that having multiple titles is not a valid reason to have a series article. Looking at the series Metroid, we see a common gameplay mechanics section. Kid Icarus lacks common gameplay mechanics, at least the article lacks any mention of the similarities between games and how the mechanics have evolved. The development section spans the important information of the series' growth in Metroid's series article, while the only development information is related to the first game's. And the reception, similarly, focuses solely on the first game. A game doesn't need many games to have its own series, it needs important information from all three games that are relevant here and come off as more than restating everything from the main articles. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Where are we supposed to put the characters, enemies, and bosses of the Kid Icarus series. Rtkat3 (talk) 10:41, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Enemies and bosses of a three game series are not notable. There are exceptions, but this is the poster child for "not such an exception". May I suggest a Nintendo Wikia? - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 06:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Someone already started one for Kid Icarus. We should at least have a page for the characters that appear in the game with sections for Pit, Palutena, Medusa, Orcos, Eggplant Wizard (who appeared in the Captain N: The Game Master TV series), Uranos (who appeared in the Captain N: The Game Master comic book series), and any recurring monsters. Rtkat3 (talk) 11:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We shouldn't have to have any articles if they don't have a reasonable level of notability. We can clearly see no notability of a series, rather only the individual games bearing the Kid Icarus name. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler!
