Draft comments[edit]

Hey @Sydneyp9856. I'm doing online support for your class at UMD and I had a few comments on your draft so far:

  • There are a few sources you could use (but I think you'd have to get them at a library, as they are too recent for JSTOR): Afterall has two articles on Dujourie which would be very helpful in fleshing out details on her art. I think there are a few more but as google indexes gallery listings in some cases a search is confounded.
  • Are we covering the Nature's Lore exhibit in detail for a particular reason or just because the sourcing focuses on it?
  • I'd be careful about closely paraphrasing this source too much. You've got a few sentences in the lead of the article "Dujourie personifies the sexuality within her materials, displaying the performative dimension of the artwork." vs "Dujourie plays with the sensuality and immediacy of materials, emphasises the performative aspect of the artwork" in the source and "Her subjects center around time, the change between the figurative and the abstract, the sensation of gloominess and searching for an emotional aspect of space" vs "...the passing (and the weight) of time and move between the figurative and the abstract, generating a sensation of melancholy and searching for an emotional understanding of space." Neither of these are too problematic, but close paraphrasing is often hard for other editors to disentangle and can cause some editors to take a close eye to the rest of the prose. I think CaroleHenson may be able to take a look and see if anything needs to be changed, but keep it under advisement.

Thanks for your work. If you have any questions you can respond here or on my talk page. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:42, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

I'm an online ambassador for your WMST 250: Women, Art, and Culture (2014 Q3) class and have just stopped by to provide a quick review and add what I hope will be helpful comments.

You have written an interesting article, is laid out in sections, and the content is well-cited.

Suggestion:

  • Group multiple citations together using <ref name="xxx"></ref> for the initial occurrence of the source and <ref name="xxx" /> for the remaining occurrences. xxx=whatever name you'd like to use for the source. For instance, I started one example using <ref name="Museo Sofia" />
  • Titles of works should be in italics.
  • Do you have some background information, like where she was born and raised, and education?
  • Since the information about her works, aside from Natures Lore, is sparce, it would be nice to have a link to her personal website or another site that more fully discusses the works of art that she has created.

I made some minor edits, including pulling down the career information from the intro into its own section. Generally, the artist's website should not be used as a source for biographies, particularly for living people, see Wikipedia:BLP sources section. If you can find another source for the installation and exhibition work, that would be better.

I'll check in on you again, and I'll be watching this page if you have any questions or comments.--CaroleHenson (talk) 15:59, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
