Episode guide[edit]

This episode guide was moved from the main Mr. Bean page - it was not copied from another website. It does need the dates of broadcast adding, though. Bob 10:36, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Millennium episode?[edit]

Hair By Mr Bean of London[edit]

Can anyone confirm the date that this episode first aired on Nickelodeon/Paramount Comedy 2? I thought it was yesterday, but an anon added that it's been screened on Nickelodeon a few days beforehand. BillyH 13:43, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect that the original air date was long before 2006. I remember buying the video at the time at it said "never to be shown on TV" all over it and I also remember thinking "what a swiz" as I'd already seen it on TV. I suspect that some ITV regions showed it while others (perhaps the majority) didn't. 88.109.123.80 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 01:16, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Episode descriptions[edit]

It seems to me that a number of recent additions to the episode descriptions are unnecessay details - people retelling their favourite parts more than providing a useful synopsis. Opinions? Duggy 1138 09:25, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, while it is quite descriptive and brings back memories of the individual episodes themselves, the whole article is poorly referenced.--HisSpaceResearch 04:03, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I still think that the descriptions have too much detail - retelling the jokes rather than giving an synopsis of the episodes. Duggy 1138 (talk) 04:46, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vote Mr. Bean?[edit]

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else --Atoon 01:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm presuming it's the music video for '(I Want To Be} Elected' by the Smear Campaign, number 9 in the charts in 1992. BillyH 01:43, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Music Mr. Bean?[edit]

Hello, does someone know title and artist for Mr Bean first episode's music (music that can be heard in sequences involving the reliant regal) ? Thanks :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.82.232.1 (talkcontribs)

It's by Howard Goodall, although I don't know if it has a name - it's highly unlikely to be commercially available. It was probably originally intended to be called the "Mr. Bean theme", I guess, before they changed to the choral theme. Bob talk 11:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you :)

Doctor Bean sketch[edit]

I've added a section on the Doctor Bean sketch that took place on a new series of the Dame Edna show on ITV. I can't recall the exact details of the sketch, so if anybody can track a clip down feel free to add to it. 88.110.20.226 13:54, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Possible mislisting?[edit]

I've just recently received The Whole Bean for Christmas as a gift, and I noticed that "Mr Bean Rides Again" & "The Trouble With Mr. Bean" are switched in the list of episodes (what you say is epesode 5 is episode 6 and what you say is episode 6 is episode 5 on my dvd). Did someone mess up on the DVD/article's listing, or were they aired differently in America? Metroidpal45 (talk) 00:44, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exam sketch[edit]

Perhaps someone British could help us clueless Americans out and explain the exam sketch from the first episode? What's a revision? Is this an exam to get into college? 15:46, 10 May 2008 (UTC)RevWaldo (talk)

==> Revision is studying for an exam. The man who asks "Done your revision?" is simply asking Mr Bean if he has studied for the test. I'm not sure what the exam is for. It could be to get into college or it could be an exam at the end of college for graduation.

Mini crash at the end of the first episode[edit]

At the end of the first episode, Mr. Bean comes to a T-junction in the road and turns left. Shortly aftewards, the Reliant approaches the same junction, with left indicator flashing, indicating that it too is considering turning left. After seeing Mr. Bean crash, the Reliant switches indicators to the right, and turns right, presumably to avoid the same fate as the Mini. The Reliant doesn't "speed off" as documented. I think the writer of the article has missed the point of the gag here. I admit that I didn't notice the change of indicator direction until I'd watched it about eight times :-) 86.164.181.8 (talk) 22:58, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clear mistake[edit]

It say the following!¬

Mind the Baby, Mr. Bean Airdate 7 February 1993 (postponed from 1 January 1993 owing to the abduction and murder of James Bulger)

This is clearly wrong as James bulger case never happened until 4 days late on the 12th February 1993, so how can it get postponed 6 weeks earlier, and still get broadcast 4 days before? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.204.126.82 (talk) 22:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It should make more sense now. Someone, in a fit of apparent mischief, had changed dates throughout the article. I have reverted the damage. Thank you for catching the clear mistake. Hertz1888 (talk) 23:00, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Story of Bean?[edit]

Some of the episodes listed here state that a different theme tune was used and that it was later used in the opening of a 1999 documentary that I have titled as the headline. Any idea what this documentary is to do with as this is not mentioned anywhere on the Mr. Bean page or elsewhere so I think we could mention what this documentary was for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trainfan01 (talkcontribs) 02:26, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First episode[edit]

I was in the audience for the first episode, which was in July 1989. I was expecting it to be average, but thankfully it turned out to be excellent :-). I wonder if I've still got the ticket ?? ....

The Return of Mr. Bean Act 4[edit]

The ending credits show Tina Maskell as "the Royal", it does not state her to be the Queen. Also in the beginning the news commentator speaks of the "Royal Car", which can mean it transports anyone from the royal family, not necessarily the queen herself. Gryffindor (talk) 22:19, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tee off stroke count[edit]

The article says the actual count is 41, but I count at least 51.. 145.100.125.133 (talk) 16:24, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The count assumes all strokes Bean made were seen in the programme. Anyway 3,427 is clear hyperbole and from the chain of events that unfolded any sane person wouldn't have counted all that anyway, never mind self-enforce a "don't move the ball" rule once it goes over the fence. The high figure Bean enters on his scorecard is clearly part of the joke. NKTP (talk) 00:23, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not aired episodes[edit]

What was the source for this info? Are there a part of some Video cd collection? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.68.103.25 (talk) 21:11, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Presume you mean "The Library", "The Bus Stop" and "The Chair"? The first two were on the original Mr Bean videos, Library was on the red video and Bus Stop was on the blue video. They may be on the DVDs too. With regard to Chair, it appears to have been edited in for American and/or Canadian viewing as far as I can ascertain but IIRC wasn't on the yellow video release. Along the same line, the "Winning The Turkey" skit (ie how Mr Bean ended up with a turkey by standing on some scales) wasn't on original transmission but was at least included on the purple Mr Bean video. NKTP (talk) 21:04, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting off article[edit]

This article is no longer a list. The information for most episodes is detailed enough for separate episode articles and a single article which includes all non-episodic sketches. So I propose that this should be done and this article should be made just a list as intended. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 20:17, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • This looks like a disaster in the making. Neither one of the two articles that I have looked at have even a single reference. Likely, there are none. The solution to having an overly long list of non-notable unreferenced stuff is not to have a whole bunch of non-notable unreferenced articles, but to pare down the list to what is really notable about the series. You could start with paring down the overly long plot summaries... These "articles" are headed straight for AfD, I fear. --Randykitty (talk) 23:39, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments, but I'm rather more optimistic about the future of these articles. Firstly I don't believe any of this is non-notable, it's Mr. Bean, it's worldwide popularity is referenced in the main article. What has happened is everyone has tried to add all the episodes summaries to one article to the point where it becomes one massive unreadable, uneditable blob. No one can tell looking at the list whether it's notable or not. This wasn't going to be fixed by paring down plot summaries. By breaking it down into articles (which is an option when an article gets to big) we can now see what information we have got. This has been my first priority. I'm aware of the referencing problem as I've tagged every article appropriately, my next priority is to examine the articles, find and add references (including some from the main article) and, where possible, add more information. If not and you're right that they're headed for AfD, it won't be a disaster because at least the episode list will actually be a list. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 00:20, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've now completed the split. I hope everyone finds it a lot easier to follow this list and the new articles. A lot of work still needs doing to add secondary sources, verify information with citations, fix inaccuracies, remove unneeded information and add more useful background information. Especially if anyone can find original reviews, broadcast details and viewing figures of Mr. Bean episodes this should be added to the respective article. As Randykitty has already pointed out, without this, it is difficult to prove notability of an episode. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 21:17, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Airdates[edit]

The episode airdates originally shown in this article and copied onto many other websites are wrong. During the split I have corrected this information using official sources such as this one and compared other reliable sources such as IMDB and TV.com. They are correct and, within each episode's article, are all cited correctly. To all editors, I respectfully request that we not change them unless even more reliable sources can be found or the cited sources alter their own dates. Thanks. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 12:08, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The opening paragraph of the main Mr. Bean page says, "'Hair by Mr. Bean of London', was not broadcast until 2006 on Nickelodeon." Then the episodes page gives it an airdate of "15 November 1995". I don't know which is right, but the two seem mutually exclusive.
Also, the episode page's description of "The Library" calls it "an unaired sketch that appears only on video", so how can it have an airdate of "5 November 1990"?TheVictor99 (talk) 23:58, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect someone put the release date of the video. I've removed it. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 21:39, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am not not sure if this should be listed somewhere but Mr Bean made an appearance on Going Live! but I cannot seem to find an air date or a series/episode number for it anywhere. I guess the records were not great back then here are the links 1 2 Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 15:59, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Finding sources, especially secondary ones is very difficult for anything in the early 90s. I can't watch the first link as it's blocked in the UK (ironic!) but from the clues in the second video (The roman numeral at the end is 1991, one of the children asks Bean what he wants for Christmas and the two videos which between them contain the first four episodes of Mr. Bean) I would guess it aired somewhere between the airdate of episode 4 (15 October 1991) and Christmas Eve 1991. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 18:15, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Unless the appearance is particularly notable, I don't really think it ought to be listed. The episodes, and perhaps one or two shot skits at things like the Olympics are worthy of inclusion, but not every promotional appearance of the character. If it's not widely commented on or referred to anywhere, it's probably not notable. Bob talk 18:41, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Return of Mr Bean Queen Elizabeth II[edit]

I know it was an unnamed Royal, but I thought it was always meant to be the Queen Mother. The woman in Question looked far too old to be representing the Queen in 1990.2001:8003:4035:8700:C183:BBFE:7A27:5F86 (talk) 09:29, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Who you thought it probably sorta kinda maybe could have been is original research and does not belong in the article. - SummerPhDv2.0 22:02, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Handy Bean[edit]

The Handy Bean series on the official Mr Bean's YouTube channel is missing. I'm aware of at least 6 episodes: Pizza, Bean Packing, Painting, Salad, Birthday Cake, and Mr Bean's Sandwich Stack. (The last one also happens to be an advertisement for the mobile app of the same name.) There might be more but I do not have the time to investigate further due to the massive content on the channel and due to the fact that the Handy Bean playlist does not contain all of them. Note that this appears to be an ongoing series as well, as the Birthday Cake episode was released only a few hours prior to me writing this. 199.102.241.221 (talk) 19:47, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done. But strangely, I could find almost nothing about it... no reviews, no news items, just an IMDb page, and various pages for viewing it, such as on Amazon Prime: [1]. Adpete (talk) 06:38, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Curse of Mr Bean broadcast date[edit]

Whatever the "official website" mentioned in the latest edit summary is, it's incorrect. This episode was first broadcast on 1st January 1991.

Schedules for LWT/Thames on 30th December 1990 and 1st January 1991: [2], [3]

Imdb also has the correct date: [4] Barry Wom (talk) 13:07, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
