Updated figures[edit]

The new website appears to have broken all of its historical links, and I can't find updated data there. Does anyone have updated stats for this? Greenman (talk) 20:32, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah, anything with IRB attached to it. I used this on the rugby page, but I can't find a higher definition article. Hope this at least gives you a lead. Cheers FruitMonkey (talk) 20:59, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That image doesn't have a date associated with it though. Is it linked to from an article somewhere so that it can be placed in context? Greenman (talk) 00:45, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you check out the cite and footnote in the Rugby union infobox I added in early 2014, it gives a bit of background information. Cheers, FruitMonkey (talk) 22:54, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Figures for player numbers by country are included in the 2014 annual report of World Rugby. The report is available as a PDF document with the relevant data starting at page 51.[1]. BTW, World Rugby is the name of the organisation formerly known as the IRB. I recommend that for the sake of consistency, the editors of this page use World Rugby's annual reports exclusively as the source for building their table, unless there are compelling reasons to do otherwise. This way anomalies arising from different criteria and methods being used in counting players can be better avoided. As an illustration, the current table shows Ireland as having more than three times as many registered players as Australia, which is obviously nonsense. The figure for Australia was taken from Sport Australia while that for Ireland was taken from the IRB. But why, when the IRB source could have been used for both countries? The Sport Australia figure for number of RU players in Australia is 42,000, while World Rugby's 2014 annual report shows Australia as having 230,000 registered players - not a small difference, and a clear indication the two organisations have very different ideas of who gets counted as a rugby player in Australia.Quackal (talk) 22:16, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

English referees[edit]

England can't have 321 referees, it's scientifically impossible. --167.56.157.59 (talk) 13:28, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

England & Wales data swapped[edit]

Looks like someone has swapped the data or names for both, no way can Wales have 100,000 more male adult players than England... Coldphinger (talk) 12:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The England data doesn't even add up within it's row 90.205.164.17 (talk) 15:59, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I went to the source given in the citation. Most of the numbers were corrupted (either 1 or 2 initial digitas missing so I've made the numbers agree with the source cited. I havenot checked the numbers for any other country 90.205.164.17 (talk) 16:08, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
