Bowser Rules notability?[edit]

I feel that it is important to note that while we may have a list of Bowser Rules on the Wikipedia entry that they do not link to a direct citation, nor is there currently a resource available that can be cited. I am aware that while they did show a list of the rules during the marathon (and I guess perhaps we could link to that as a necessary citation) I still feel that perhaps the Bowser Rules might not be notable enough to include into the Mario Marathon entry. They are technically an ever-changing set of ground rules, and aren't always public. When they are updated for the next marathon (if there is one) the current listing will be incorrect.

As a potential alternative perhaps it would be noteworthy to stick something in the history section describing Mario Marathon as an event that tries to maintain somewhat of a PG rating to ensure that it can appeal to wide audience. We can even state that these rules are called the "Bowser Rules" with the proper citations. ←Directionalpad (talk) 12:31, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The "Bowser Rules" are not, themselves, a pertinent portion of the actual event themselves. It's my opinion that anything viewers might ask about recurring things should be on the wiki. When the marathon members talk about the Bowser ::Rules, it's a common thing to ask, "What are all the Bowser Rules?" I consider that a basic question that deserves an answer. My biggest gripe on the matter comes down to the fact that we have no hard link to the actual rules. They simply do not exist and therefore are not a source that can be cited. First hand accounts (such as the Bowser Bot rules being transcribed here) aren't reputable (despite how factual I know they are and you know they are). I think that the Bowser Bot rules and the PG theme can be mentioned in the Recurring Themes or even history section, but without detail until we get some hard linked information directly from the Mario Marathon website. I believe the closest we have to the Bowser Bot rules are the chat moderator rules which even I don't recall the URL to. The chat rules can at least establish a PG/PG-13 precedence which can be cited for accountability/notability purposes. ←Directionalpad (talk) 15:47, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your desire to have citations for everything, but first-hand knowledge DOES have a place on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not merely a collection of links with summaries. It is first and foremost a source of information; citations should be used wherever possible, but they are not applicable everywhere. How does having information posted somewhere else first make it any better, when you know the information is good in the first place? However, citations do not need to be links. Proposal to update Dan May's status as a Player[edit]

While I understand that Dan May was part of the original Mario Marathon team I am questioning whether or not he belongs under the "Players" section in article. I do not deny that he was an integral part of Mario Marathon's history, but he has not made an appearance since the original Mario Marathon. My proposal is to add some kind of addendum after his name mentioning that he was there for Mario Marathon 1 and replaced by Chris Deckard (or simply never returned) after he moved to Australia prior to Mario Marathon 2. A possible alternative to the above suggestion would be to add a "Previous Players" or "Previous Team Members" section that would list those members who have participated in prior marathons but have not returned for future events.
