We need to demonstrate the group itself is notable, and write about them in their article. As it stands, it is simply a coat rack for "instantaneous euthanasia". Rockpocket 01:04, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Rockpocket, since you know a lot about notability, can you help me find sources to make this article notable. I look forward enthusiastically for your help. Ikip (talk) 03:06, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Needs sources covering the organisation. Presently this article fall foul of WP:NOTNEWS as it discusses a single news story and not the subject of the article. Tim Vickers (talk) 01:37, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Mr. Vickers. I am adding sources now. Ikip (talk) 01:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's Dr Vickers to you, young man. :) Tim Vickers (talk) 02:28, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Funny as hell[edit]

The animal rights groups alarm the United Egg Producers, the industry trade group.

"I have seen these videotapes that are taken, and they're endangering the birds," said Ken Klippen, vice president of United Egg Producers. "The bird is in a resting stage. The lights are off, and when they flash those camera lights, it startles the birds, and they may harm themselves."[1]

Ikip (talk) 03:49, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What's even funnier is we let the activists get away with calling this infiltrations "investigations". We should send someone to dump a few mangled puppy corpses in Runkle's mansion and "investigate" his animal abuse tendencies.... — TheHerbalGerbil(TALK|STALK), 00:24, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

USA focus ?[edit]

This artivle speak about Mercy for Animals usa, but I know this org has now internatiinal branches, hence a more global focus should be used in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.81.227.247 (talk) 22:57, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point to sources for those non-US branches? Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:27, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 14 March 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. No consensus. I was tempted to instead vote oppose on policy grounds as set out below, but I think it's a valid no-consensus close as is, so let's move on. Andrewa (talk) 16:03, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mercy for AnimalsMercy For Animals – The title is not properly capitalized. The "F" in "for" should be caplitalized, ie. Mercy For Animals (abbreviated MFA). See the About page from organization official website to see it written in example: http://www.mercyforanimals.org/about-mfa.aspx 2602:306:CF8F:D180:1D9E:9321:16C6:6633 (talk) 14:51, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support this seems non-controversial.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 00:57, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per MOS:CT (prepositions containing four letters or fewer are not capitalized) and MOS:TM ("Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, regardless of the preference of trademark owners"). –Chase (talk / contribs) 22:40, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The sources in the article favor the lowercase version. -- Calidum 05:47, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mercy for AnimalsMercy For Animals – The official legal name of the organization has a capital "F", ie. Mercy For Animals, abbreviated M.F.A. This is the official, legal, registered name of this organization, regardless of common English capitalization rules or non-official articles and news reports. The official website is www.mercyforanimals.org, no other website can dictate the proper official spelling of the name. Thank you for your time. 76.89.216.228 (talk) 23:54, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While MOS:CT indicates that conjunctions should not be capitalised I don't think that this would be a reason to oppose change. A bigger issue may be regular usage as shown in search (Raeford OR Runkle OR "CA 90046") AND "mercy for animals" AND mfa in books. The charity presents itself as "MERCY FOR ANIMALS" which wouldn't be used. While I strongly sympathise with the move request I hope, if it is opposed, a moratorium on moves can be put in place. • Support There is no compelling reason not to use the official name, IMO.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:15, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Official or not, WP:NCCAPS discourages capitalizing a short-worded preposition, like for. --George Ho (talk) 21:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Messrs. Kaye and Ho. Favonian (talk) 17:38, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. This is exactly the sort of misguided nomination which the essay WP:official names specifically addresses. See the essay for clarification, and WP:article titles for the policy which all editors are urged, in many places including the box at the top of this RM and the instructions at WP:RM, to read before nominating or voting for a move, and on which the essay is of course based. No case to answer. Andrewa (talk) 10:12, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalizing "For" to match organization title[edit]

I think we should revisit the earlier discussions about moving the page. The discussions seemed confused and misdirected. For proper nouns, Wikipedia consistently matches their casing, even if it is unconventional. Some people brought up WP:OFFICIALNAMES and WP:TITLE, but those say nothing directly pertaining to an organization named with upper case letters where title case would use lower case letters. Instead, it is my sense that these guidelines urge editors to focus on the criterion, "Article titles should be recognizable to readers, unambiguous, and consistent with usage in reliable English-language sources." To me, this indicates "Mercy For Animals" as the proper page title. What do you think? Jmill1806 (talk) 01:47, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
