Novak Urination Incident[edit]

It is not undue weight. Many reliable sources thought it was notable enough to write articles about. If it was "accidentally" shot by a camera crew, it wouldn't have made it on the highlight reel on SportsCenter.WikiHogan654 (talk) 06:47, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you wouldn't mind considering me a third party, I don't see at this time how this is relevant to Novak. He peed on the sidelines, as apparently many other players do. My thought process here is on what this adds to the biography. I am reminded of the recent situation where Luke Scott indicated he buys into the Barack Obama citizenship conspiracy theories. While that has nothing to do with his athletic career, it does speak to him as a person, in terms of his politics and personal beliefs. For Novak, all this seems to indicate to me is that he has a bladder, and the need to relieve it from time to time. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:19, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Obviously this incident doesn't speak to him as a person, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the article. These kinds of incidents/accidents can be found on Wikipedia pages for celebrities of all kinds. As for this being something that frequently happens in the NFL, I completely disagree and feel that this was made up by the other editor and/or Novak if he actually tried to say this to defend his actions.WikiHogan654 (talk) 22:26, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Per this article, Novak said "I usually go two or three times a game. If guys pay attention to that, you'll see quite a few guys go to the bathroom." In addition, a public relations official said, "When this occurs, the player has been shielded from public view and there have been no issues with it.   • Ok you're not making it up, I still think Novak is because, again, I've never seen it happen before, and so many different news agencies chose to talk about it. And PR official, really?   • The PR official (Greg Aiello) makes a great point regarding players going to the bathroom in the locker room, so I see no reason to believe otherwise. If Novak was truly making things up, he would have said it was the first and only time he's ever gone to the bathroom on the sidelines, not "two or three times a game". If anything, the existing one-sentence summary misrepresents what actually happened. Novak was doing everything he could to be available for his team. (After all, do you really want your placekicker attempting a 53-yard field goal with an uncomfortably full bladder?). The existing sentence could be read to imply that he missed the kick because of the sideline activity, which is simply nonsense. Speaking as an ex-high school kicker, 53 yards is a heck of an attempt under any conditions. Let's try to behave like an encyclopedia and not The National Enquirer, and just omit the reference to urination altogether, please. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:19, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You left in "has the same godmother (Dorothy Vails-Weber) as tight end Kellen Winslow II." And you left out the information about him urinating on the side lines. Difficult to make an "undue weight" arguement under those circumstances.
