How to make Blonsky Notable in eyes of Wiki[edit]

Um, wow. Yeah Blonsky is great and everything but this wiki article fails on so many level. She hasn't really completed the role yet and isn't notable enough to have her own article... he has one actual source of info from the daily news. This needs major work. Ok, people need a refresher on what is needed for a person to be Notable for a wikipedia article. I will quote the guidelines here:

Notable actors and television personalities who have appeared in well-known films or television productions. Notability can be determined by: Multiple features in popular culture publications such as Vogue, GQ, Elle, FHM or national newspapers4 A large fan base, fan listing, or "cult" following An independent biography4 Name recognition Commercial endorsements

Alright -- We have a national newspaper. But nothing else I can see, adding a site like the most recent revision did here, i understand the reason that adding their source is important but that didn't add any new information to the article! It restarted all of the other sources and was probably the shortest of the bunch. Read the notability guidelines and show me multiple national newspapers that have more then a passing reference to Nicole getting the part in hairspray. Just so you know, I did read the talk page before I removed the template and I am familiar with the notability guidelines. I saw that the subject was one of the stars of a major upcoming movie, and also was the subject of a segment on Entertainment Tonight and an article in the New York Daily News. You feel more strongly about this than I do, so I'm just going to leave the article alone from now on, but I don't like the implication that I just skipped in without reading the talk page and ignored the notability guidelines. janejellyroll 10:09, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although more sources are always welcome, a lack of sources is not a reason to have a notability tag on the article. The Daily News article, IMDB, and a search of Google News all confirm that Ms. Blonsky was cast in the film. Now if the film ends up being scrapped I guess we can reassess her notability, but as of now she is far above the level required to have one's own article on Wikipedia. If you disagree strongly, I suppose you could request that the article be deleted through WP:AFD, but please don't replace the notability tag. Rhobite 22:29, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's been added and removed several times. I'm not sure, but I think the reason behind this was that the sources saying that they were dating were at least somewhat unreliable, and no official statement was made by Blonsky or Efron. —Mears man 00:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't there be a seperate topic about her career? What I mean is I see that it was posted that Nikki was in talk's to be in a sitcom but it was posted in her personal life and thats not really personal when its involved in her professional life. The Article Title[edit]

It seems that the title of the article should be "Nikki Blonsky", since this is her professional name. This is a WKII standard, isn't it? ie: Madonna,and Anna Nicole Smith are titled as such, though they have different given names.

Jewish-Christian[edit]

Blonsky said that his father is Jewish, altrough she was raised by the christianism, she is ethnically half-Jewish and not of Jewish descent.--SamuelM555 (talk) 09:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I didn't see your comment here until after my edits to the main article. I will comment here, though. The page Category:Americans of Jewish descent states that "This page lists American citizens of partial Jewish ancestry. For those of full ancestry or who self-identify themselves as "American Jews" or "Jewish(-)Americans," see Category:American Jews." Seeing as Blonsky's mother is not Jewish, she is technically of partial Jewish ancestry, which is why I feel that this category is more fitting that Category:American Jews. If Blonsky was a practicing member of the Jewish faith the American Jews category might be more appropriate, but seeing as she's Catholic I feel that the Americans of Jewish decent category is more fitting. I did take another look at theCategory:Jewish Christians page, though, and I do feel that she meets the requirements for this category (being of Jewish decent, but a member of a Christian faith), so I've left it in the article. —Mears man (talk) 18:14, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Obesity" Section[edit]

That's not neutral. It presents the POV only of those who want everyone to adhere to a single standard. There are, however, at least as many people who hold Blonsky in esteem for refusing to conform to an arbitrary beauty standard. Many see her as a positive role model for girls and young women, and that needs to be added to the article.

Also, I think the headline should read "Body Image" or something like that, as "Obesity" is one-sided. Ekeckert (talk) 04:39, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Child actress[edit]

There's this category (American child actors) in which Nikki Blonsky is included. And I don't think Blonsky is or was a child actress. Her film debut was Hairspray (2007) and she was nineteen when it released, possibly eighteen when they filmed it. Child actors are actors, who are seventeen years old or younger.
