Image tagging for Image:KendraYoung.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KendraYoung.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Non-free use disputed for Image:Buffy Season seven.JPG[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Buffy Season seven.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Josiane Balasko[edit]

Hi Samuel ! I saw you categorized Josiane Balasko as Jewish at the bottom of her article. This information seems a tad dubious to me. What is your source? Could you disclose it in the body of the article? Cheers Mrbluesky 21:01, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed you have several Fair Use pictures on your user page. These are not allowed. Please remove them. --Stormin' Foreman 17:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elvis is Christian[edit]

Hi, Shmuel, you seem to confuse two things, Jewish identification, which is a halakhic matter, by which Elvis is clearly Jewish, though his Jewish neighbors tended to treat him as a Shabbes goy, i.e. a non-Jew (and he wouldn't even have been prosecuted by the Nuremberg laws), and Jewish identity: this is what makes him, along with Margareth Albright, Neve Campbell and others "Jewish Christians."

User space[edit]

I have reverted the move where you redirected you user and talk pages into the mainspace, as the page transfer was not only inappropiate as we use user space for quick identification of users but it also failed to comply with the mainspace standard. I also removed several fair use image from your user page as this is not allowed per WP:FU. - Caribbean~H.Q. 06:56, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You moved it back and re-added the images, and I undid those things. Please do not do it again. Thanks. WODUP 14:02, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Take some time to read WP:FU and WP:USER as well as WP:N, cease this pattern or it will be treated as vandalism since its becoming disruptive. - Caribbean~H.Q. 14:10, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop readding the fair use images on you user page, you have been warned against it before and you have restored them three times, the next time you do so you will be blocked from editing. - Caribbean~H.Q. 16:18, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia as a result of your disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism (including page blanking or addition of random text), spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, personal attacks; and repeated, blatant violations of our policies concerning neutral point of view and biographies of living persons will not be tolerated. - Caribbean~H.Q. 16:39, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm contacting you to see if you understand why you have been blocked. I'm also writing to see why you insist on putting non-free images on your user page, and also why you keep trying to move your user page into the main article space. Basically... what gives with your most recent edits? I just want to make sure you understand our underlying policies and guidelines which resulted in your block, and to see if you understand how your edits were disruptive. Feel free to ask questions and reply here on your talk page.-Andrew c [talk] 18:06, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization of living people[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the guideline for categorization of people. According to this guideline, you should not add religious categories to articles about living people unless a) the person self-identifies as that religion (and this is documented in a reliable source) and b) the person's notability is partially due to their religion (and this must also be documented in a reliable source). If you have any questions, please ask me. Karanacs (talk) 22:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Jewish categories cover ethnicity as well as religion, thus they are subject to whatever guidelines are present at categories like Category:Italian-Americans, not to the guidelines above. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 22:25, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BLP still exists. At the very least, you cannot add a category about someone's religion or ethnicity without citing a reliable source. Some of the articles didn't mention the subject being "Jewish" except in the unsourced category, which is unacceptable. If you are going to be adding categories like this to articles on living people, make sure that it is verifiable. See WP:V, WP:CS and WP:ATT. -Andrew c [talk] 15:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed you are STILL adding unsourced categories about living people. If we do not have a reliable citation in the article to state that these people are Jewish, we cannot add these categories. I noticed you also did some edit warring over this by reverting multiple times. WP:BLP is something that we take seriously, and unsourced content about living people simply CANNOT be added to articles (and this included categories). If this type of editing continues, you may well be blocked per our blocking policy. This is the last time that I will warn you about this. If you have any questions about how wikipedia works, please ask.-Andrew c [talk] 14:17, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at Guy Béart, you'll notice that the article does not mention anything about being Jewish. You'd need to find a reliable source which states that fact, and then add it to the article before you can add those categories. The first two people you mentioned have sources in the article regarding being Jewish, so those categories are fine. However, if there are no sources to back up the categories, you simply cannot add them. I don't mean to come off harsh. I just want you to understand and follow our policy. I hope this helps.-Andrew c [talk] 14:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chronic violations of WP:IUP[edit]

Your recent change to Lisa Kudrow has been reverted. Please refrain from uploading or using any more images until you have read and understood WP:IUP and WP:FUC. Thank you. --Yamla (talk) 01:00, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of deleted categories[edit]

Please stop recreating deleted categories and inserting them into articles. that is completely unacceptable. The fictional characters by religion categories were deleted after Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2008_February_24#Category:Fictional_characters_by_religion, and if you disagree with the closing rationale, bring it up at deletion review. Stop recreating the categories. - auburnpilot talk 22:34, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:ElsaZylberstein.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:ElsaZylberstein.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Andrew c [talk] 01:42, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please read the template message more carefully, or read #1 above. Do NOT delete the template, but instead follow the instructions on the template to dispute it. -Andrew c [talk] 14:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

March 2008[edit]

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Zac Efron. Thank you. Category needs to be referenced in the article. NrDg 04:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also reverted all your additions of Category:Ashkenazi Jews added to bio articles today. A sampling of the articles showed that none of them had referenced information in the article that supported that categorization. --NrDg 04:39, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashkenazi origin[edit]

What! Read a little article Ashkenazi Jews, and you will see their origins, the German Jews, Polish Jews etc are Ashkenazi origin, and the person I categorize her Ashkenazi read their article, or of anti-Semitism what?--SamuelM555 (talk) 04:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I only read the article that has the category added. If the information is true about that person it needs to be referenced information in THAT article. If it is not in that person's article you can't support the categorization. If you believe that information is important to that person and can back it up add the information to the article first, then add the category. The list article is unreferenced and is not usable as a reference in a bio article. --NrDg 04:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The categorization is in relation to the origin of the country of origin of his family, a report by the article describing who is or is not Ashkenazi. I do not understand, there is this same categorization for Sephardic Jews, and there's never been any problem.--SamuelM555 (talk) 04:52, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you can justify it add that conclusion to the text of the article before adding the category. I am not going to synthesize information in the article when I check for correct categorization. I want to see the category directly mentioned in the article - with references, before I'll accept is as a category. We already have enough problems correctly identifying religion and ethnicity and descent. Get it right in the article first, then categorize. The categories do not stand alone from the article content. Lack of proper references in other articles is not a justification. It is important to get this right for people as some people do get offended by being labeled with the wrong religious and ethnic background. It is better not to have the information at all than to get it wrong. --NrDg 05:05, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article that triggered my interest was Zac Efron where you added the category under discussion. That category is a cross between Jewish background and descent. Only one of these is mentioned in that article so the category can't be supported. --NrDg 05:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I categorized him because he was in this page, List of Ashkenazi Jews --SamuelM555 (talk) 05:34, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That page is unreferenced so you can't use it as a source of information. Wiki pages do not meet the WP:RS requirements for reliable sources. Please make sure that the pages you categorize actually have the phrase Ashkenazi Jew in the article. Categorizing Jewish people based on country of origin sounds too much like classifying Christians by country of origin - Lutherans for German, Catholic for French, Anglican for British when that is just a tendency not a determinate. --NrDg 18:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

The above indicates you are wholely unfamiliar with the image policy. It is a violation to have an actor in character in a biographical article. As such, your revert of my edit was inappropriate. The image of "Carol Hathaway" cannot be used in the Julianna Margulies article without violating policy. Do not put it back. KellyAna (talk) 19:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Prom Night.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Prom Night.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:23, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soprano (rapper) and other pages[edit]

Please do not add categories that are violations of the biographies of living people category. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 19:29, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yet again, I ask you not to add cats that are a violation of biographies of living people. The policy for categorising people by religion is quite clear. One Night In Hackney303 20:38, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yet again, do not violate this policy. Wikipedia:BLP#Categories says clearly:
Category tags regarding religious beliefs and sexual orientation should not be used unless two criteria are met:
  • The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or orientation in question;
  • The subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources.
The source must say the subject self-identifies, not some random person simply claiming they are a particular religion. One Night In Hackney303 20:57, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, you are ignoring BLP which is a non-negotiable policy. Adding Jewish categories to David Beckham and other articles is a violation of BLP, please stop. One Night In Hackney303 02:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Read exaxctly what is written above, direct from the policy. One Night In Hackney303 02:04, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I could not care less whether his mother was Jewish, Sikh or a Jedi, and neither could policy. I don't see why you are having such difficulty understanding simple words.
  • The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or orientation in question - Him saying he is "half-Jewish" doesn't meet this.
  • The subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources - where's this? Nowhere to be found.
If, and only if, both those are satified does a religious category get added to any article. One Night In Hackney303 02:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I could not care less about tattoos, Who Is a Jew?, his mother, his cat, or any other irrelevance you care to bring up. Religious categories are only used if the two criteria above apply, it's that simple. One Night In Hackney303
Irrelevant, per above. And do not, ever, under any circumstances whatsoever add back text I have removed from my talk page. One Night In Hackney303 21:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional jews[edit]

Stop re-adding these categories. I've warning you before, and simply opening a deletion review does not entitle you to recreate and repopulate the category. Stop now. - auburnpilot talk

Per the evidence I collected at User:AuburnPilot/SamuelM555 sockuppetry, vote stacking at DRV, and the concerns raised by other editors, I have blocked you for a period of 1 week for abusing multiple accounts. I have also blocked your sockpuppet, Meryl-H indefinitely. - auburnpilot talk 22:19, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Racial categories[edit]

Please do not add or restore ethnic or racial categories unless there is real third-party evidence that the person has identified with that category, and that this is significant to the person's notability, again as shown in reliable sources. This is particularly important when dealing with articles on living people. Having reviewed some of your edits as well as your block log, I am ready to block you the next time I see you break our policies in this area. Please remember to follow our policy WP:V in future. Thanks. --John (talk) 22:04, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And please do not repeatedly post to ONiH's talk page. You may be sure he has read your comment and he has asked you not to keep posting it there. --John (talk) 22:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry to see you decided to ignore this advice. For this edit I have blocked you for two weeks. This is in recognition that this is your third block. You really need to have a long think about our policies WP:BLP (which deals with how we handle articles on living people) and WP:V (which describes what we mean by verifiability), if you decide to come back. Good luck, --John (talk) 15:06, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Racial categories again[edit]

I am sorry to see you have returned to adding racial categories to articles on living people without adding valid sources. I have undone your edits. If continue you will be blocked again. Please do not; there are better ways you can contribute. Thanks in advance. --John (talk) 03:56, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to have lost patiences with you, but this is simply ridiculous. The first thing you do when you get off your block is continuing editing in the EXACT SAME manner that got you blocked in the first place. If you do not understand wikipedia's BLP policy or how categorization works here, then ask first. But for the time being, until you make it clear that you understand our basic guidelines and policies, I am asking you to please do not edit the category section of living people (specifically in regard to racial or religious matters). If you continue to edit in this manner, you will be blocked again for the exact same reason you were blocked the first time (consider this your final warning). Please, I would like to encourage you to become a productive wikipedian. There are other ways that you can help out the encyclopedia.-Andrew c [talk] 16:21, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious to know what you were thinking of with this edit. I was about to block you as you have clearly ignored the advice that Andrew and I gave you, but I thought I would give you the right of defending yourself first. Why did you do that? --John (talk) 05:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What? is he not of Austrian Moroccan Italian and American Background ?--SamuelM555 (talk) 06:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The categories you added were Jewish ones. There was no mention of Judaism in the reference you gave. Why is race so important to you? --John (talk) 14:25, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And why is that so taboo for you ? And I dont know if you're blind or not but it's marked highest and with your references "Nucci was born in Klagenfurt, Austria to a French Moroccan Sephardic Jewish mother and an Italian Jewish father, and was raised in Italy until the age of seven"--SamuelM555 (talk) 17:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Once again, there is no mention in the reference of Judaism. I've blocked you for a month; if you decide to come back, please try harder to follow our policies WP:V and WP:BLP. Good luck and best wishes, --John (talk) 20:38, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again? I have the habit, but now if you can read or see, that's not my fault.--SamuelM555 (talk) 20:45, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As has been pointed out in the past, Wikipedia:Categorization of people state: The article must state the facts that result in the use of the category tag and these facts must be sourced. For example, your edit here introduced categories that were not supported by the article nor citations. On top of that, we have Category tags regarding religious beliefs and sexual preference should not be used unless two criteria are met: The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or preference in question; The subject's beliefs or sexual preferences are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources. It's clear as day that your edits are not in line with the two quoted passages. Please read the quotes, then go to the page I linked to and read further, and please ask question if you do not understand. Tell me, after reading up on our policies, do can you tell me why your edits where problematic? Do you understand why you were blocked? -Andrew c [talk] 05:37, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:SummerRoberts.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ejfetters (talk) 19:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Tsipora Fournier[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tsipora Fournier, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello SamuelM555! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
