Untitled[edit]

Hello Fellow Wikipedians! This is my outline for my Nimbus Fish Hatchery Page.

Outline as Follows: Nimbus Fish Hatchery

History this will expand on the history behind why the hatchery exists, and how how it came about. This will also include the geography of the area.

Salmon once spawned up and down the rivers of California, but with more human infrastructure came more habitat change. The hatchery is located along the American River in East Sacramento. The Nimbus Dam cut off historic salmon runs,so in return an artificial system was established. In 1958, the Nimbus hatchery was established. This Hatchery was established to mitigate the impacts the Folsom and Nimbus dams have on the American River flow. <https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Hatcheries/Nimbus/History />.

Nimbus Hatchery Programs The hatchery is currently operated by California Fish and Wildlife. <http://cahatcheryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/CA%20Hatchery%20Review%20Report%20Final%207-31-12.pdf#page=83>.

Hatchery structure This will include infrastructure and uses for the utilities. This Hatchery is party of a greater interconnected network within the region. The dams upstream from the hatchery control irrigation, generate power, supply water, and are a main source of flood control. <https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Hatcheries/Nimbus/History />. There are rocks guiding the salmon in the direction of the ladder to enter the hatchery. The ladder brings them up yo harvest and spawning tanks.<http://cahatcheryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/CA%20Hatchery%20Review%20Report%20Final%207-31-12.pdf#page=82>.

Contributions This will show why the Hatchery is in place, and the impacts it has had regionally. This includes impacts to society and to the ecological system.

With the creation of the Nimbus Hatchery, it has mitigated for impacts on the steelhead and salmon populations. <https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Hatcheries/Nimbus/History />.

Classmate Review[edit]

First, what does the article do well? Is there anything from your review that impressed you? Any turn of phrase that described the subject in a clear way?

The proposed outline and structure of the article is done well. The outline, when filled, will provide useful information in each section to cover the topic. The aspect of the article that will be impressive when complete is the section "Contribution". This will be an interesting section if useful data is supplied to back contributions.

What changes would you suggest the author apply to the article? Why would those changes be an improvement?

I would suggest to expand slightly on the initial section of the article since it is relatively brief. This will allow readers to see connections between the subsections of the article. In both the "History" and "Contributions" sections there are explanations of why the hatchery is in place or why it exists. I would limit it to one section to mitigate redundancy in the article. Aside from that I wouldn't have any other suggestions.

What's the most important thing the author could do to improve the article?

The most important thing the that could be done to improve the article is to make sure that each section has enough information to provide relevancy to the article. Also that the sections are somewhat equal in the amount of information they provide. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwed12 (talkcontribs) 06:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, while the article does a good job at covering its existing categories, there are a few more unmentioned categories that can be drawn from some additional credible sources. AlanNavai (talk) 08:11, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Overall this article was decently made and has room for improvement, but it definitely holds a good point with what you want to talk about. You definitely seem to know what you are talking about, and I am sure with that you will be able to get far with this if you know what you are talking about. Nimbus fish is a good topic as it is not something too broad yet not too precise and provides a solid ground for information to be inputted.
