Semi-protected edit request on 10 April 2022 (onomatopoeia)[edit]

"The Japanese word nyan is onomatopoeic, imitating the call of a cat"

The real onomatopoeia is "nya", not "nyan".

Please change "nyan" to "nya". Catsuryuu (talk) 10:38, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NFT is just a link[edit]

@Ianmacm:

"had created an updated version and sold it as a non-fungible token (NFT)" is nonsense, as NFT is just a link and art cannot be sold as NFT. NFT can be sold, but it gives no control over actual art. In case that copyright or other rights are coincidentally sold at the same time, then such rights are still not sold as NFT.

I tried to rephrase it but ended with Engrish (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nyan_Cat&oldid=prev&diff=1101357563 )

Maybe someone else has idea how to fix it?

Even after reading this source I still wasn't sure what selling Nyan Cat as a non-fungible token actually means. Apparently "only one buyer will be able to lay claim to Nyan Cat". I think that the current wording in the article is simple enough for an average person to understand, but would welcome ways of improving it.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 21:20, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I want to say something in that page. -- UserAV666 (talk) 12:23, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Paper9oll (talkcontribs) 13:11, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This article could use the "MOMO's 10th anniversary" remix of the song[edit]

The remix I would like to add if possible: [1] 2A00:1FA0:4443:35F7:0:47:8CC1:A801 (talk) 12:03, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have to be honest and say that this doesn't sound a bit like the original. Since the piece of music is closely linked to the 2011 GIF animation, it isn't of key relevance to mention the remix.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 12:21, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, big thank you for explaining the reason 2A00:1FA0:46B0:A6CD:0:31:D0D3:3501 (talk) 15:34, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously, though, the clip does have the meme's "nyannyannyan nyan nyan nyannyan..." and so on inserts - but let it be. I am not insisting or anything. 2A00:1370:81A2:E0D:DC40:3DD8:1C34:D59 (talk) 14:01, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit it because the original video was deleted?[edit]

The original video was deleted today off of the saraj00n account, it had over 210 million views. A edit to highlight that? https://x.com/prguitarman/status/1723178422531133856?s=46&t=J6v0Pxe0RuKRi2JlG7NYHA BroadcastPs4 (talk) 03:48, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you're right, the official version of the video is/was on the saraj00n account at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4 but as of today, it is showing "Private video Sign in if you've been granted access to this video".--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:43, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's important to note that Chris Torres had the video taken down because the saraj00n account posted a video in support of Palestine in the ongoing conflict, as evidenced by this reply chain. Additionally, the video wasn't "moved" to the official account; the video linked in Torres's announcement is for the Nyan Cat video on his channel that was uploaded a week after the saraj00n upload on April 12, 2011. Until now, the two uploads coexisted, with Torres's upload having a hundredth of the views that saraj00n's had, but now it is the only authoritative upload of Nyan Cat. There is some news coverage here, but it doesn't mention the removal.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 20:18, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please put a pronouncian next to "Nyan" in the lede. You have it for other articles, but not for this one? I can't pronounce it and it's driving me crazy. 174.94.54.119 (talk) 00:06, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to MOS:PRON, the lead does not have to give pronunciation. I have added wikt:にゃん later on in the article, and this gives the IPA pronunciation.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 10:40, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
