Editing[edit]

Aweh almal. :P I am going to be the one in charge of watching this page and making sure it meets good Wikipedia standards. ;) I've added various citations, reworded a lot of the article, added information where I thought it was needed and removed some that I thought was irrelevant. I hope we all have a good, clean time on this article and that we can all make it awesome. Raait. Peace! Aleksandar Bulovic' (talk) 17:32, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Previous Acts[edit]

Hey all, I was wondering if it would be better for this section to not have artists that have no Wikipedia page? I have unlinked the bands that have no article page, but I think it would be better to remove them from the article entirely as there have been hundreds of acts that have graced the stages of Oppikoppi. James Phillips at Oppikoppi 2000[edit]

Phillips died in 1995, so it's remarkable that he was able to perform at the 2000 Oppikoppi.

I have removed his entry from Trek 2000. Thanks for pointing it out! Aleksandar Bulovic' (talk) 19:05, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adding artists to the lineups, etc[edit]

One of the stages at Oppikoppi is named for James Phillips, which is probably why he got included in the lineup for 2000.

I am slowly adding artists to the lineups for the years that I attended and where I have the lineups available. I am putting them in alphabetical order because it is easier to use and because Oppikoppi really does not have headliners formally. I took the data off the Oppikopi Web sites and other sources at the time, so I am not sure how they should be referenced as those Web pages probably no longer exist, etc.

I am adding the artists that I think are significant (so I am omitting the DJs!), but it might be relevant to add all the artists. Whether or not the artists have a Wikipedia page is irrelevant - even such legendary South African artists as Dan Patlansky and Albert Frost did not have Wikipedia pages before I added stubs for them recently. The problem is that there are too few South Africans with the interest and available time to add pages for all these artists. We must remember that Wikipedia is not just a resource for now, but also for the future, which is why all should be documented. The significance of any South African artist should be determined by South Africans, and not those who have never been to Oppikoppi, never mind South Africa!  :-)

Please note that it will take me a long time to make all my contributions properly because the lack of my spare time - but also because of my extensive experience with publishing peer-reviewed literature, I like to do thinks properly, such as checking all the references, etc. Drackles (talk) 19:15, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
